K31 serial number help and info

Hi there

Recently bought a k31 from Calgary shooting center and I have a few questions about the rifle.

The serial number of the rifle is P 268206. I can't seem to find any yeat of production or any info about the P besides it possibly being made from available parts around the 60's since they adopted a semi auto rifle.

2. The rifle has a scope on it that looks like it was done after the purchase and done very well. I believe it to be a German scope. On one cap it says "Waffen Zimmermann luzern" and the other cap says "dinox veteran 4x32"

3. There is no soldiers tag under the buttplate but stamped into the wood is "xx 44".

Any help is appreciated.

Does it say something like "bestellt von KTA for KMV" because that's your serial number range. P means private sale.

KTA - Kriegstechnische Abteilung des schweizerischen Militaerdepartments
KMV - Kriegsmaterialverwaltung

Could also be

P 263331 P 267000 Number range, in which private K31 exist. These K31's have been produced after the end of official Swiss Army production from
available (spare-)parts.
P 267001 P 279000 Private K31 Carbine series

No year available.

Which is more likely.

The scope is good.

The P means it was official released from Military inventory for private/public sale and ownership.

Here you go. Nice claw mounts! Very expensive to get done.
You might need a cheek piece for the scope.

It's actually not that high up but I bet a cheek riser would make it better. Thanks for the link and for posting the pictures!

Stock was cut/formed /in-leted xx = month, 44 =1944.
Typically left to season /dry for a minimum of one year before mating to a barreled action after checked for warpage or cracks.
