and read about the chassis here:

Reason for that price is that their target audience is Europe where they will be in competition with this:

w w w . wyssendefence.com/produktkategorie/handfeuerwaffen/swiss-ordonnanz-k31/sniper-chassissystem/

comparatively, k31 is not that popular in North America, and the way its price went through the roof lately, it is unlikely to ever be.

As long as they are keeping that buttstock, it's not doing anything for me - I'll pass. I'd much rather they just made a connector for an ACR stock or even (shudder) an AR tube.

I ordered this up from the US. Its by Lucky Wood Stocks on Etsy. I had to use Prophet River to bring it over the border but I'm very happy with it. It came free floated, pillared, and bedded and shoots better than my original stock. Which is now safely stored for future use. :)

It's also nice to have the adjustable check piece with the BadAce scope mount. You need to adjust it all the way down to get the bolt out for cleaning. The whole thing can be put back to stock in about 10 min.

The pics don't do it justice. It's made of flame maple that looks great in daylight.

Awsome!How much does it cost?

Awsome!How much does it cost?

h ttps://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/275502094/k31-sv98-stock-design

$240 with the current conversion plus shipping to Prophet River, + $50 import fee, then taxes and shipping to me. I think total is about $350 to my door in Ontario.

He makes a lot of them much cheaper if you don't want flame maple and such.

Actual rifles made and used by the Swiss for centerfire 300m & biathlon.

DSC00015.jpg

The top one is a M65, the middle one seems a M74B (biathlon) and the lower one a M70B.

For those unfamiliar with the UIT (Union Internationale de Tir) ISSF 300 m discipline: it is shot prone and 3P at 300 m (328 yds). Any calibre can be used up to 8 mm. There are three courses of fire: 60 shots prone, 3 X 40 free rifle and 3 X 20 standard rifle.
The biathlon rifles were used at a combined cross country skiing and shooting match.

Fudds buy milsurps?

I am, I have been told, a Fudd. From what I can tell, these characteristics make me a Fudd:

* I don't call magazines clips.

* I don't pose as Master Chief Tactical Operator with a tac'd out 10/22 at the range.

* I don't marinate myself in AXE body wash before heading out to the range.

* I don't wear a lid, backwards or otherwise.

That said, I own a couple K31's. And Schmidt Rubin 1889's and K11's. And other milsurps, too. But being a Fudd through and through, no SKS. Them's just for killin' babies, as us Fudds say.

All that said, I'd be curious to try a modern stock on the K31, just to see what the rifle can do on a different platform. $1400 is a bit much for me for such an experiment, but I think it would be interesting.

That wood stock from Etsy looks interesting, too.

I am curious on it.

I tried using optics on it once before but it lifted the optics soooooo high above the stock that getting a good cheek weld required a crazy cheek rest. This stock is a nice answer to that.

TOP DEFINITION
Fudd
Slang term for a "casual" gun owner; eg; a person who typically only owns guns for hunting or shotgun sports and does not truly believe in the true premise of the second amendment. These people also generally treat owners/users of so called "non sporting" firearms like handguns or semiautomatic rifles with unwarranted scorn or contempt.
"See sonny, all those pistols in that cabinet... all thems is good for is killin people." -Example of ignorant comment from a fudd at a local gun shop. See also: Zumbo.

Bingo.

The title of this thread is not well written at all. Putting that monstrosity on a K31 isn't looked down on by fudds, its looked down on by people with taste and appreciation for the original design.

Does that include someone that simply wants to put a scope on the rifle?

I took your advice and finally started playing around with Kydex.
First project was a cheek riser.
My only complaint with it is that it sits a tad too far back for my liking due to the bolt throw of the K-31

Looks great. Was that from a kit or 100% built and cut by you?

This illustrates my point on how high the cheek piece needs to be to see the scope.
It is why I like the idea of a stock designed around using optics. (With that being said I like the wood option over the "thing" at the top :)
