Okay diesel, I should have known after the SKS comment but MY SKS can shoot under one minute one shot groups all day long!
My refinish job is almost done but the grain on this piece is quite open. My oil will normally fill the grain in four coats with the second coat sanded in but this Swiss wood in not cooperating. Looks almost like Ottawa Valley Butternut but harder, I guess it's some flavour of walnut. There is a factory patch on the edge of the butt that looks more like the walnut I am used to. It was no doubt patched when new to save the blank as no other work has been done to it. If anyone knows about Swiss walnut let us know.
