Like they say let the buyer beware, but I don't like to see a rifle that I sold with all its flaws and scars exposed sold as something its not

The repro stock from Poland reallly stands out in his EE ad, as well as all the other issues.

The seller should be notified of his ad.

So this was a rifle you owned, sold to someone else after a refurb, and now he is trying to pass it off as original? Am I following this correctly?

.
It would appear that the Seller on the EE is representing the stock as "refinished."

KERNALVAX - Is this the guy you sold it to, or any idea of how many hands it went through before he got it. Maybe he was sucked in on it?

.

I'm sorta of lost here too since Gewehr 43s are out of my area of expertise.

I do get the feeling that Germany used whatever parts were on hand to make these rifles in 1944-1945 so i would expect to find some oddball parts. I think that rifle is also Maltese issue or was that another one on the EE ?

Interesting that the mods in the EE are allowing the ad to stand, fraudulent as it is.

It's got a fake stock the seller clams to be original/refinished and the receiver has been bubba'd and a non-correct site base soldered on to deceive - no mention of it by the seller asking big bucks for it...

We'll worth a touch more than 600$ just in parts, When I rebuilt it, it cost me around 700$ in bits and bobs, the front nose cap was a killer to get my hands on. and the seller is right about the bore, its got a excellent bore, also it had an apfeltor gas system in it, new springs, and that repro stock, sling and sight hood are also repros....

Im worried at the look of the front of the bolt carrier, it looks like it was ground down some since I owned it.

Im not sure if thats the same person I sold it too or not at this point, i deleted all the PMs on the deal, and it was some months ago I let it go

Look at your feedback, if he's there, probably the guy.

btt - Compare the Two sets of pics for the rear sight and receiver modification.

In my view, it's only worth the sum of its parts. In theory someone could weld on enough material to reprofile the receiver to original and track down a real rear sight. Get ready for about $1500 to make it right again, assuming you find someone who can anneal, repair and re-harden the receiver.

If it were mine, I would part it out to restore a less-butchered rifle. I would'nt pay more than $300 for the parts I see and that fake stock would warm my livingroom hearth.

But then I don't care for faked-up and fraudulently sold reproductions. Mayhaps others feel differently.

Wow, those pictures certainly help.

With the 300m graduation, it does look like a VZ24 sight. Is it possible, given that VZ24 parts were still floating around in 1944-45, that the Germans put on a VZ24 sight ? It looks like you can see the sodering that is holding the sight base down, doesn't look to be a professional job either.

"Stained" bolt carrier ? I am not sure what this means ?

For future reference, I am curious how you guys can tell the stock is a fake/reproduction ?

I hope the seller did not knowingly post a rifle that is not what it is claimed to be. It is also sad to see a Gew.43 end up like this but with prices the way they are, I guess it was only a matter of time.

For starters, germany never made stocks from russian birch plywood - they used beech laminate like on a k98k.

And no, germany did not solder on sight bases and use VZ24 sights for these.

It's all fake and the guy who built the rifle is warning us of that fact in the posts above.

The current seller is perpetrating a FRAUD. Period.
