K43 misrepresented on the EE

The seller doesn't appear to have trader feedback by the fellow who built the gun, perhaps he was mislead when he bought it himself?

Thanks for warning us though, I'm sure there are many people on here who are not K43 experts. Maybe a mod could place a link to this thread in the add?

Just notice the seller has changed their EE ad with the following:

"Having done some research the stock is a Polish repro, although I am getting mixed reviews from this website and a euro militaria website."

Still no mention of the rifle being a restored sporter, lol. Price is also dropping, down to $3k now. This certainly reinforces the buyer beware edict!

Any word if the seller bought the rifle without knowing what really happened with her ? I would hate to get jipped and pay $3k for a lemon.

Interesting question, but he should know now for sure. Obviously someone told him about the Polish repro stock. I'm surprised the mods have allowed this ad to stand.

Hes made a couple of updates. I hope he didnt get burned buying it when he thought it was something else.

I had a few beer last night and found this thread, I'm a new guy when it comes to forums so I kindly ask that you go easy on me.

It was a face to face transaction just outside of Toronto. I did a little research beforehand and purchased the rifle knowing the major flaws ie. rear sight ground off and scope mount bevel milled off (I've read some came from the factory this way though). However, I was told it was an original stock.

I paid $700. To be completely honest I don't think it was too bad of a deal. The seller had actually purchased a genuine G/K43 rear sight that he was going to glue on with epoxy. I told him to please not do that, and he included it in the deal.

I work in the metal fabrication industry and would like to (in my spare time) restore her to her former glory.

Considering that any decent shooter milsurp (exclsuing russian sks's an M-N's) go for between 400-800, I think 700 for this particular shooter is a very good buy.

if you are unhappy at 700, pm me, we can make a deal i think.

If you had paid $3K for it, that would have hurt.

At $700 for a rebuilt with repro parts k43? If it's a shooter, and it works well, then do the Mepothian Dance of Joy.

last time I checked sks's and mosin nagants were still below $200 in grease for a shooter and under $300 for a collector grade

Pictures up soon, slowly restoring her to her previous glory. Any ideas for fabricating a rail for the scope to mount on? The original mount on the right side of the receiver seems to have been machined off. I understand that sometimes from the factory this is done but I'd like to have one since I've got a spare ZF4 and mount. Tried looking everywhere for some sort of blue prints etc. but to no avail. I purchased Mr Weavers' book on K43's and page 145 has nice pictures but no dimensions. Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
