I got an issue with my 1943 K98. I bought this K98 a few years back, and while it doesn't get much use, I do take it out occasionally. But ever since I got it, when cycling the bolt, randomly the round will not full seat in the bolt ending up in front of the extractor, there by getting stuck in the chamber. I have so far always been able to get the live round out of the chamber, but I figure its time to get this issue fixed. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing the round to do this? It does it weather or not I cycle it fast, or slow. And its very annoying.
 
Could be the follower is out of line, is the spring installed the right way? Is the extractor really worn?
 
Can't really see it in the pic, to check the follower spring you have to pop out the floorplate and check if the spring is installed the right way. You can use some spent cases and try to seat them on the bolt face. Do they fit tight under the extractor like difficult to get them in?
 
File a bevel on the edge of the extractor so it will jump over the rim of the cartridge when it is pushed in to the chamber.
 
I had a similar issue with my CE44. A combination of Gaffs suggestion and making sure the rounds in the mag well are pushed back as far as they will go when loading cured the issue (I cant use the charger clips as mine is scoped)

Placing the brass by hand, it slides under the extractor with little force, I can feel it click in. Should the extractor move any when the brass is inserted? When I push the brass in it, the extractor appears to move out just a hair. Normal?
 
It is normal that the extractor moves a bit. As your case slips in place well when done manually, I would remove the extractor and give it and the bolt body a good cleaning. Also, you may want to consider the bevelling on the extractor as Gaff suggested.
However, cleaning and just polishing the extractor claw fixed the problem for me. I'd still check if the follower spring is installed the right way.
