I've had no luck identifying the receiver markings on this K98 listed as Russian Captured, anyone able to shed some light? Thanks! :)

1) It's in the EE, right? Why not just ask the seller?
2) It's a Gustloff Werke rifle, probably a 1944 gun, but the picture has truncated where the date is marked.

That's actually a pretty neat K98k. The receiver is a Gustloff marked receiver but I suspect its actually a depot build of some sort. The barrel is an armorers spare 0.2 marked barrel and the firing proofs are sideways on both the barrel and receiver. I would grab that one if you're looking for something a little odd ball. Not something you see everyday in the K98k world.

Why do you think 44 assembled claven? Barrel is dated 41....and no one would serial number the barrel and receiver in 44.
It is a neat piece, damn shame ivan got it.

Also no final acceptance would be more typical of a depot gun. Sadly the important markings were likely on the stock....

No top final acceptance, serialed on the barrel and receiver in a very un-Gustloff looking font, sideways proofs mainly only seen on depot repairs/builds, and the armorers spare barrel pretty much rule out anything other than a depot build of some sort.

I'd wager that the receiver is roll marked bcd 41 as this is by far the most common receiver seen on depot builds. It's pretty cool and hopefully someone will post up additional pics if they get it. I'd buy it but I'm too hung up on matching originals.
