K98 serial renumbering service

I tried to report this prick to eBay, but after wading through their reporting system, the item # came up as invalid.

"THIS AUCTION IS FOR WW2 K98 98K MAUSER BOLT,ALL PARTS TOTALLY UN-NUMBERED,STILL HAS PROOF MARKS ...."

The whole text is in caps lock, has bad punctuation and a few typos. If I can't read the ad, how can I be expected to buy the product or service? So why is he shouting to the world that he is an internet lout?

His service is to deceive.

A renumbered K98 is worth next to nothing, and there are many of them out there already.

The milling and grinding marks as well as the renumbering and reblueing stand out like a #### house in the fog and are quite obvious if you know what you're looking for.

This guy is just another humper trying to make an illegal buck by preying on the unsuspecting buyers in the future.

The guys at the GK43 forum have bookmarked him and poster his stencil online so that peoplecan compare the real German numbers to this guys font. Apparently not all of his are correct looking and they're hoping to expose his handiwork.

I can't see what the problem is, it's a great idea. If people want to pay to get a matching bolt or any other part that's up to them, it's nice when all the numbers match especially if it's done properly. I have done this a couple of times on previously mismatched parts.

I can see the reasoning as an aesthetic one, but it seems to me like a modern alteration to a 60+ year old part should stand out fairly well to all but those who don't really care either way.
