Hi everyone I have a k98 and two crates of 1950s Yugo 8mm surplus ammo, and the rifle only shoots about in in 5 bullets. My CZ mauser shoots the ammo just fine, although looking at the ammo there are a lot of very deep set primers. I have put in a new firing pin and a new spring, no difference. Firing tip protrusion is fine. Any suggestions and advice would be much appreciated!

What he said.

Disassemble bolt,clean properly and reassemble.

In my surplus I found a lot of caked-on cosmo/grease/dirt accumulated in crevices, especially inside bolt body where it interferes with proper action of firing pin.

You say you added a new spring. Was it a 28 pound spring, or more? That is what milsurp ammo needs to shoot reliably.

Primers ignite from the shock, not the energy. Important that the bolt internals are clean.

Is it a matching bolt? If bolt is too short, the protrusion may be insufficient, but headspace would be bad.
