Hi,
I have been looking at some pictures of German K98ks online, hoping to know what the correct look of one with cupped buttplate should be. Some of the original K98ks (non RC) had decent bluing left on the barrel and the action, but the cupped buttplate and the disc in the stock always look bare. I wonder is the bluing on buttplates worn out sooner than the other parts? Or were they "in the white" when they left the factories?
On the other hand, I have also seen a number of people showing off their K98ks with blued cupped buttplates.
Had the German manufacturers ever blued the cupped buttplates? Or is it just "restorations projects" done wrong?
