K98k gurus what can you tell me about this swp 45? More pics on post #20

Hi folks. I've been collecting for years but have yet to get into k98k's. The other day I ended up with this one. It looks mint and I'm super happy with it. I originally thought it was just another Russian capture refurbished but now I'm not so sure.

I plan to keep it as I needed to fill the k98k hole in my collection but now I'm seeing how lacking my German weaponry knowledge is. This one is marked swp 45 on the receiver. It has a 5 digit serial number on the left side of the receiver. The bolt is miss matched, there is a stamp on the right rear of the buttstock that is pictured. Also a big "43" on the buttplate.

Any info on this gun would be great as I'm dying to learn more about these.

Pretty sure the Germans didn't use sight hoods. Looks to be re-barreled as well, be sure of the caliber!
Post-war assembled perhaps? No reference to swp45 in Hatcher's Notebook anyway..

The Germans started using front sight hoods in roughly 1941. It was changed right around the same time the buttplates were changed to the cupped style, and they started using laminated stocks. I am not too up to date on the topic of German Mausers, so I am sure someone who is a expert can provide much more detailed information than I can.
 
The SN with no letter tells me it was in the first 99,999 of that year's production. The next 99,999 would have an /A/ in front.
 
SWP45 was the last German code produced at Brno(or Waffenwerke Bruenn) in Czechoslovakia. The Brno code DOT 44 changed to SWP 45 in early 1945. The Nazi produced rifles had a lower case serial number suffix, post war Czech production did not. WaA 63 was used by the Germans for late war Czech production. From the limited pics I would guess post war Czech maybe even East German refurb. The Czechs produced many rifles post war using German marked parts.

I can take more pics tomorrow if that would help. I think it is an east German refurb for sure. It's been refurbished at one time no doubt about that.
 
Definitely a rework, as the MK2 mark is often found on East German reworked rifles, which explains the original caliber.

Still, more pics would help. Nice rifle.

Could be.
I have an early 42 ce (Sauer) with laminate stock, cupped butt plate and a front sight/muzzle protector that would not work with a hood. A swp45 just sold on the EE.
