I just brought home a k98k and Im curious as to the value of this type of mix matched beast. I do not believe it is a russian capture rifle. The barrel, receiver, entire bolt, floorplate and trigger housing and barrel bands are all matching. The stock, buttplate and bayonet lug and other bits are all matching as well just not to the receiver. Its almost as if this rifle was built from 2 all matching rifles. Im thinking maybe it was a restored sporter. Anyways just curious how much something like this is worth..Its in great condition and has a nice bore.

Oh well was kinda hoping it was worth more than a typical russian capture..I still think its a neat rifle..should be a good shooter lol ..Here are some pics.

Maybe its a Mitchells Mauser. Lol. Jk

Is it just me or does that dirty bird look a bit off?
The one on the side of the barrel

It's a worn die. It starts wearing in the later letter blocks of bcd4, then there is a 100k no letter run and you can see the die get worse and worse. The. In the next no letter run it is replaced with a new die.

Please post photos of the "mismatched" parts and any markings on the stock.

You need to post pictures of stock markings to properly evaluate this rifle.
With all matching metal, it certainly is worth more than any Russian capture mixmaster in my mind.

I have one like that, story was the gun was a duffle cut bring back and the butt end got lost. Add a take off from another guys sporter project and away we go.

That's a pretty rifle, bet she's a shooter!

My bet is the rear band doesn't match the gun, and it is a restored sporter. But a sporter that retained the front band. You see either band retained on the odd sporter.

i saw that but got scared off when he told me he didn't know if the stock matched the rifle either and only sent me two fuzzy photos. it looked like it had a big X carved into the stock by the bolt handle wasn't sure if it was worth 1200

Well I knew the stock didnt match the metal..I just thought it was interesting that all the parts on the stock matched each other. Its my first non russian capture..and I agree I think its a restored sporter. The rear band is only marked with a "1".

There are still the odd sporter variation to save both bands. Or the stock was just buggered and replaced by someone. The why doesn't overly matter.

Yeah you're right, either worn die or it didnt get pinged straight as the swastika looks a little smooshed with not enough on top to get the wings squared off and the eagles head included.

So OP, how does she shoot?? :)
