I spent some time on the range today.
I didn;t find the sweet spot for none of the 6.5 swedes, but I think I hit the spot with the K98 - Black hills match ammo.

anyone knows what powder they use?

The warm shots group nice, while the cold one is up and to th left.
The rifle still has full wood, but I plan on using another stock.... maybe I can do something about that first shot.

the target is 8x11".

Thank you, gentlemen.

The target was @ 100 yds.

No nazis here! the rifle has been recalibrated to 7.62x51 by the israelis.
Is just something I love about the old rifles.......

Next to me was a fine benchrest shooter that shot dime-size groups whole day... with his 6mmBR... Shilen bbl, Kelby action and nice purple stock.

I'd rather shoot the Mausers all day long.

I can't blame you for changing the stock if it is an Israeli K98. Some of those beech stocks are really beat to hell and back and absolutely ooze oil on warm days or after a few shots.

Didn't realize we were talking about an Israeli. My Israeli K98k .22 trainer has been sitting in the sun for the past few weekends when I've been at home and it just bleeds that #### like mad. The stock is looking a little lighter and a little nicer with every rub down though.

Eltorro,

What kind of sights were you using? I find my Israeli K98 .308 has terrible sights. I plan to change that someday but not sure with what. I was considering Mojo sights.

Maybe he's using a scoped Israeli;) ...Enquiring minds want to know!...lol...

you must know.... you've seen the pictures.....

I bought a stock that has a sort of storage compartment and a buttplate lile the M1. Someone shaved much of the wood in the bbl channel, so I'll try to bed it- full length - with some Marinetex and then keep the original resemblance.

I had to change the front sight. It's waay too low; Also found that shooting at reversed triangles with 98s gives the best results, while the squares seem to be better for the 96s & 38s.

had 5 rounds of BH left, so I decided to try them on the hun head.
I was amazed myself by the results.
I shot the swedes all day long and didn't get under 2 MOA, so I was kinda' dissapointed.

the 308 BH (red box) are about 20$. Not expensive, but not quite cheap either.

Sounds like an Itajuba M954 stock. FWIW, Israeli stocks aren't so hard to find. A WTB would likely turn one up. Gunco in Ottawa has a correct Israeli tock right now in great shape ;)

Ya have ta' love a good shooting Mauser!
