Was at the range last night shooting my Walther P22 that has approximately 4000 rounds through it. After the first magazine I fired I went to fire the second one and on the second shot the slide seemed to blow off the rail and upon inspection I saw that near the front the slide had cracked!! I was choked for a moment but not at the fact that my gun broke but that it was a Walther:kickInTheNuts: I expected a higher level of quality from them and am now quite disappointed. Ill have to look around and see if I can buy a new slide. Or just a new gun!

Our club had one that the slide split right where the slide stop groove is. They are cheap knock-offs of the P99s. They aren't even actually made by Walther from what I understand, they just pay rights for the name.

Search google and you'll find many threads on many forums with the same type of problems. According to Walther they are made by them and distributed by Walther America and Smith & Wesson.

Here's a picture I randomly grabbed off google... LOOK AT THE PLACEMENT OF THE CRACK COMPARED TO THE OP'S!

Walther P22 and SIG Mosquito are both "Umarex" pot metal specials IIRC. Lots of warnings posted about these two... sad that they would abuse their names like this.

This is a known problem with the P22. A cast pot metal slide has no place on semi.

I got rid of mine and picked up a solid Buckmark to replace it.

Call me any name you want, but that's the reason I will never have firearm with main parts made from pot metal, aluminum alloy or plastic. If the gun is from the steel, it can always be repaired, but plastic frame ones? I had seen nice and accurate H&K 45, and when looked better, it had chipped magazine well. I felt sorry for owner.

I guess somebody got fed up with plastic Glock frames, and started making solid metal ones http://www.ccfraceframes. com/home.php

Yep!

Sig Mosquito, and Glock AA kit had no issues though.

Best of them all hands down was the CZ75 Kadet. Never should have sold that one!

X2 for the CZ Kadet - I love mine!!! Sorry to hear you sold yours

While the Kadet doesn't have the cool factor of the entire slide moving during operation, it makes up for it with full size feel, look, an unmatched quality. Full size 9mm mag housing also allows use of existing mag pouches.
