KAC Goodness...

The US Mil was not interested with a monolithic - so very few people made them.
The monoliths to are (to me) an answer to a question no one asked -- the front of rails get damaged much easier than the rear/receiver portion -- and in a monolithic that means the entire thing is trash.

KAC is starting to sell SR15E3 rifles (like the upper I pictured but with a 16" bbl) thru a distributor in the US (and worldwide to those who can buy)--I think some will find some surprises with the distributor -- and I must say I am not sure who is Taurus's distributor up here.
Surprised it was Taurus eh? - so was I went I heard last month.

I heard a price of aprox $2k USD -- which included a number of upgrades straight fron KAC -- whether that was dealer cost -- I can be too sure.
KAC has a huge manufavturing base -- and I think they decided that it may be in their best interest to make a huge civilian market.

When I said monolithic, I didn't mean one piece, I said "like the monolithic ones". What I mean is, if they are making their own uppers, why do they leave that non Picatinny bit at the front of the upper? why not make it a standard rail right up to the add on rail?

Kevin I hope you are wrong about the Taurus distributor, because that is our friend Bob Nicholls:runaway: .

well if they are going to get revenge on the Ar market, $2K ain't going to cause alot of sleepless nights for most manufacturers.

why the hell would they choose Mr. Nichols?

BTW, who is "Big D"?

$2k for
KACpage.gif

URXII rail - with integral front sight
Rear KAC 600m BIS
KAC 2 stage match trigger
KAC M4 QD FlashHider
KAC's new lower with the ambi mag and bolt catch from the TSWG PDW..
1:7 Chrome lined Cold hammer Forged Barrel (same machine, and process as Diemaco/Colt Canada)
KAC's E3 bolt head and Barrel extension

When you factor in what it has its about a $4k group of parts if you bought it seperate.

Why Nichols -- they are already a KAC dist, and are Taurus's dist in Canada (KAC has seen they cannot manage a civilian dist system so they will have Taurus do it for them).
Nicholls only problem is their Custom Service people. He's tied up enough of the market that it makes is hard to for others to compete, so his CS people dont have a lot of motivation to compete.

Yes KAC does ;)
IIRC they did an avg of 15k M4A1 suppressed.
IMHO the barrel will be gone long before a civy can worry about it.
They will be selling everything via Taurus from what I have gathered.

I would ask LtCol Dave Lutz (KAC's VP MilOps) at SHOT if I where you. I have not been formally told the Tarus bit -- but I was told it by an industry insider -- everything esle I was told by Dave.

P.S. The KAC PDW will no be civilian released at this time -- IF the US Mil/Gov't does go ahead and buy a bunch then they will be civilian released in both barrel lengths (NFA and Non-NFA)
