KAC SR-15 LOWER REVIEW

First I would like to say a special thank you for ARMTAC for binging this bad boy in, I have been impressed with Knights Armament Corporation for years & years. Well over 15 years now...

And now finally I have one of there KAC lowers........:D:D:D

This lower is made right, a perfect combination of balance with the traditional AR style combined with the new & improved features.

Interesting first impression though, I did not notice the KAC symbol on the enhanced trigger guard. Also I was surprised to see the the LMT symbol on the stock, which is a good thing because that stock in my opinion from limited use is an awesome butt-stock that is a warm surprise when managing recoil. The LMT stock is like a pillow on your shoulder, just what I noticed from using it before.

The packaging was perfect and the swag that came with it was above standard, you get a detailed manual and propaganda booklet that shows the class of KAC at it's finest. The manual gives real instructions for a change that are detailed and well thought out, a professional manual done right that is informative in nature and simple to understand. The lower comes with the KAC Lock and a master lock that comes with it, KAC doesn't cheap out anywhere, and they pay attention to detail.

The KAC trigger pull is perfect and sets an excellent standard that all AR manufactures should take note of. The plethora of features is more than welcome and the controls on the lower just feels right, this lower is a Ferrari at it's finest. The ambidextrous controls are properly fitted and this lower feels like the access metal has been sculpted off and feels very lean. I only wish I had a KAC upper to complete this review:D But my Noveske Upper will have to suffice for now, but that piece of kit is for another review..

Conclusion is simple when I had the opportunity I would get what KAC products I can when available, but from now on I will venture further and more ambitiously to acquire more in the future.Keep in mind this is coming from an HK guy , and yes "YOU DO SUCK AND I DO HATE YOU". That being said HK take notice on this company.

Hey OST I want my bloody triple Tap already....haha...lol.

10/10 is the score + a .3 for extra points so 10.3 and i will not go any higher than that.

A home run for sure in my books for KAC and a special thank to KevinB for the awesome service and the knowledge he has provided here and other forums on the AR world in general..

Better?

I'm not a fan of the standard A2 grip and stock with the SR-15, and I prefer the Geissele trigger over the 2-stage KAC (even though the KAC is a really great trigger in itself). The BAD A.S.S. safety selector is also the way to go. But these are all easy upgrades.

Having owned an SR-15, I think a 10/10 is altogether too generous; 9.5/10 tops (less points for the safety and standard grip).

Nothing wrong with the A2 grip & if you don't like, 5 minutes and you have a new Magpul MIAD, Falcon Ergo or TangoDown grip installed.

I've always loved the LMT SOPMOD stock, even before LMT took over manufacture from Crane. (I understand that another company now has the rights to manufacture the stock, sigh...). I figured KevinB would've convinced Reed to ship them with a CTR by now instead of the SOPMOD.;):D

I know some of the HSLD guys here think that it is "old tech" and that the new VLTOR and Magpul offerings are the cat's meow, but I'm sticking with the SOPMOD. Just works with my body geometry, is uber comfortable, rock solid and I think it looks "purty" to boot! :)

Congrats on the new KAC lower. You definitely have a quality lower that will last you a lifetime. Score a matching KAC upper and you'll be the envy of your club! :)

I hear these points and am in partial agreement, but really the A2 is fine and comes with a lot of AR's packages for many reasons, it is more than adequate for most shooters and maintains a standard which has stood up to time very well. The BAD A.S.S safety selector is great but for me it is not needed. As for the stock I find that to be relatively a perfect in between type stock and comfortable, the stock rest in the shoulder very naturally and does the job, they have been out for a while and have earned there market place.

I can't comment on the rifle it's self because I don't own a KAC upper and won't get one till later next year.( I have shot quite a few of there rifles though, but not extensively)

I have been shooting AR's for just under 10 years now(Not a lot compared to most) and there is something unique about what KAC does, there is a lot that goes into there products, some of it I know that I have not noticed yet, but with a few thousand rds down range the difference will be paramount.

You can just tell the 25 years of KAC being in business that the knowledge and experience goes into there products, where other companies have a few years of working hard, KAC has it's whole company life of solid years of hard work going into there products.

As far as DI AR's go I would say for an out of the box AR they are number one.

Definitely feel these points, especially on the SOPMOD stock, it feels awesome in the shoulder still, and in many ways I like it better than the CTR.
