KAC Micro 200-600m Rear Flip Sight - User's reviews and comments

Wow. So were there never any sold at auction as surplus?

How can they be sold so blatantly on eBay if they are stolen government property?

We sold over 1/2 Million to the USMC, the USMC has NCIS investigating the loss/theft of over 25,000 of these, including a shipment of the last 27,000 where a box of 5,000 was stolen off the dock from Albany GA.

The USMC one are Stolen US Property.

We (KAC) have said than on every forum, and Darren said it above, they are stolen.

They are specifically NOT lock up, as BIS tend to snap if dropped when in a locked position.

Apparently you've never looked at CF issued kit on ebay. Helmets, tac vests, packs etc.

There were CF issue tac vests selling on ebay as "surplus" before we even got issued them in the reserves.

Part of the issue is EBay will only accept a LEO contacting them about Stolen Property.
EBay is used on a massive scale to hock stolen items according to some LEO's I have dealt with.

And whatdoyouknow, Kevin steps in and the matter is put to rest. Thanks.

Kevin - Is there a reason why not all of KACs BIS aren't made like the USMC, i.e. made to not lock up when in the upright position? Perhaps it was a specific requirement from the gvnt and I've answered my own question..!

And is NCIS not considered LEO? They can't do anything about the eBay goods?

Of course eBay is used to hock stolen goods, but I never assume that what I am buying is stolen. I usually "buy the seller" as the saying goes.

I hope you are able to get the stolen ones off eBay!

Negative, none of the USMC BIS were sold at auction, its been a common ploy to attempt to disguise the illicit nature of their arrival on the market.

Back in the late 90's when the SOPMOD M4 items were being designed, the user community asked for sights not to lock in the up position.
During BISII portion of MDNS program, KAC has supplied sights that offered the option of locking up. This feature was universally dismissed by SOCOM, for the fact that all the competitors sights that locked up would then suffer damage if dropped or rammed into in obstacle, and the original KAC 300m and 600m sights were retained.

At this point in time NCIS is concentrating on finding who is stealing in large numbers, and not focused on the EBay transactions, however I was told they are looking into some of the bulk sellers (some have sold in excess of 250 sights) there.

I bought the 200-600m sight (as well as the taupe flip up front... :) ) but not the micro. Basically the same thing. The small aperture is almost useless for CQC. I won't even consider using a different set of flip up sights now. If I were to purchase a flip up rear sight for a SBR I'd go with the standard/non-adjustable aperture. Just my $0.02.
