KAC SR-15, or Noveske Recce?

I like shooting off hand and shooting service rifle matches, but I also like shooting tiny little groups and picking of 1" size target at 100 yds. For me the consistent match grade accuracy is a big factor, I don't want to lose.

Keep the Noveske. You seem to be more of a precision guy, and as others have said, the Noveske is more that kind of gun.

And like you've said, the Noveske isn't something you'll see every day, but the SR-15 is getting cheaper and more common.

It would be pretty tough to put that up for sale.
Unless you are a lefty, the advantages of the Knight's is pretty much limited to the bolt mods and likely some weight savings.

It would be fun to put the two guns head to head to see how they fair.
I suspect the differences in the accuracy department aren't all that great.

Thank you for all your advice. I think I'm gonna keep the Noveske. I'll try to find an SR-15 to shoot down the road and maybe buy one at a later time. Merry Christmas :)

I was in a similar situation a while ago, at least insofar as I wanted a single do-all config. I had a recce that I built with a RRA lower/Stag upper/Noveske 16.1 middy/Troy 12" MFR rail/UBR. Worked well but was too heavy for CQB type matches. I just ditched the UBR for an ACS and swapped the Troy MFR for a Troy 11" TRX Extreme. Dropped a couple pounds from the rifle. I switch between a Falcon SIR mounted in a Larue for longer range, and a CompM4 in a Larue for CQB. Weight all-in with the Aimpoint is 8.5lbs which is not too bad.

Keep the Noveske. The Knights will be more easily obtainable and prices will eventually be plunging. I bought a LMT Defender with a sopmod stock, standard configuration for $2200 + tax and shipping in late '08. Those are now selling for a lot less.

The SR-15 was not built as a match rifle - it was built as a 2 MOA and less duty rifle.

Bolt and barrel will go longer than the Noveske during the Zombie appocalypse, but the Noveske is going to shoot more accurately.

Thanks for the info Kevin. I appreciate your honesty in not exaggerating the accuracy of the SR-15. I guess both rifles have their purpose. I may just have to buy both, but just not right now :(

As for the bigger safe, we'll see. I say later, but it will probably end up being sooner. I think that a crack cocaine addiction would be cheaper than my tactical firearms habit.

I don't get commission, I can be honest ;)

Some SR-15's shoot under 1MOA, some don't, and we intentionally never made a subMOA accuracy claim with them.

The Noevekse will be a better target gun, and his PacNor poygonal rifled barrels should give you more velocity as well.

I'm not trying to undersell our gun, if I could only have one 5.56mm gun it would be a SR-15, but I'm also at the point if I only had one gun it would be a SR-25 EMC now as well ;)

Reminds me of the thread on m4c, asking if you could only have 2 AR's, what would they be.

I said my SR-15 and SR-25.

I'm more than happy with the approx 1MOA I get out of my SR-15, some days better, some days worse. But it's always been under 2, which for my purposes, is more than good enough.

If I need better accuracy than that, I'll take out the 25. :)

IMO it kinda seems like when your looking at each rifle its more about the accessories you have on them than the capabilities... I mean the Nov. is set up as a DMR but it wouldnt be hard what so ever to make that into a solid service rifle rig by doing something as simple as pulling off the bipod or switching out the NF.

Id say if you have the Nov. already then just hang onto it and swap out the dressing as required.

Cheers

The noveske is heavier because it is has a medium profile - KAC has the pencil profile. For static position shooting and sustained firing a heavier rifle has its advantage, but when you need to carry it and run it, it won't take too long to figure out the lighter the better

Like many people have said, mission drives the rifle.
