I bought a Kahles ZF95. I was told the reticle was the 104 ranging reticle. I know a little bit about it. On getting the scope the reticle is not the 104. This one I have not seen before,
It has hash marks for 100-1000 on the vertical cross hair with 100-400 being above the horizontal crass hair and the 500 hash mark on the horizontal hair. 600-1000 are below the horizontal hair. there is a slightly curving line on both side of the horizontal hair running from the 1000-100 very narrow at the 1000 hash mark and belling widest at the 100 hash mark.
The Kahles site shows and has information on their reticles but does not show this one. Anyone who knows anything about this reticle the Number of it and how it is used. I would appreciate any information at all.

I've got a message into Kindermann. I posted it up so everybody can have a look...

Looks like it was influenced by a Dragunov style of reticle ... although they range find using height as the reference. Presumably your scope uses width ... would be interesting to see how wide a target the two stadia tips subtend at 100m

(it is curiously familiar - but don't where?)

Yes -- now I remember! ... looks like the M72 sight picture ... just different ranges. Trying to remember the CG 84mm optical sight picture -- could be similar fwiw.

I am hoping it subtends either inches or centimeters at a given range versus the shoulder width
.. it will always equate to a measurement in cm of some amount - perhaps for more rapid calculation this might be similar to a standard target shape (whatever that is meant to be eg length of a deer etc etc). Why don't you measure off a 100m and set up a large piece of paper with a meter line drawn horizontally on it. I am betting it won't subtend too much more than a meter fwiw

You may wait a while for a reponse from Kindermann - I don't think any of the folks there claim to be expert on hunting or tactical use of scopes -- they would be more likely to be expert on the optics side

I have the scope mounted and sighted in for 100 yards and it will hit within 1 inch of the bull at 200 yards, with using the 200 on the elevation knob.
I Can do the horizontal line and figure everything out from there.I still would like to know the name of the reticle and the factory instruction for use.

Well if you assume that the drop (7.62) is a little under 8 inches from 100 to 200 and apply that relationship between the 100 and 200 horizontal lines to the vertical stadia width -- it would "appear" that maximum points are subtending about 45 inches at 100 AND the LINE forming the cross hair subtends about 16 inches at the same distance .. essentially "center of mass" on a figure target

I am impressed with Kindermann - I didn't think any of Werner's staff would have that info at their fingertips. BTW ... were there "dots on the the horizontal wire"? The data sure is logical!
