Well, I personaly love the look of it. Have no idea if its any good or not sense I never tried one and probably never will. 
neither are notch sights ( Read: AK notch sights )

I, too, would like to have an off topic arguement in the middle of this thread. I like the third movie in the aliens series, it brought an appropriate closure to the series, who cares if it's dark.

I still say the 3rd Aliens wasn't that bad.
It's hard to compete with two movies of the caliber that was Alien and Aliens in succession. If they had released Taxi Driver after Aliens and called it Aliens 3 it still would have sucked ass
They really blew it when they didn't upgrade the irons when they put in the '74 series.
Then again, maybe they eventually intend to issue optics as standard issue (to catch up to Western armies) and just keep the old notch and post for backup.

I dont see any catching up needing to be made personaly, russians have a vastly different methodology and it works very well for them, the whole idea of the kalash was to engage targets at 75-100 yards in an urban environment wich they have tons more experience over the last 100 yrs than we do.. peep sights are great if you wanna put a clean group out there, i would say experience has shown me atleast engagments are quicker not cleaner with a "notch sight" they are fantastic for up to 100 yards and minute of man at 200 or more wich is all you need unless your trying for the gold... i dont think they handed out gold medals to the canadians or the russians for the afghan olympics

Those are excellent points you've made, and I don't disagree with you about notch/posts. It's just that the consensus seems to be that "dot" type sights (like EoTechs) are just so much faster--even in close. The Russians seem to have realized this in the use of some dot/optical sights in some of their special units. They may at some point make them a general issue item, who really knows....
I am pretty sure that is reliable, I am pretty sure that is RELIABLE. I can repeat this 100 times. But for the love of God - why not to spend a little bit more time to make it look not as ugly? AK-47 is not a beauty content winner either, but at least it's got logically flowing lines and character in design.
