It is a Polish made K98, not a German reparation rifle. The receiver says K98, not Kar98.
These were scrubbed before they were sold to Spain during the Spanish civil war. The Sepewe company would "liquidate" rifles from the Polish Gov't once the bores started to get rough, and also because the K98 was sold off in favor to make the new Wz.29 as the standard polish arm. The reason for scrubbing was to remove any Polish Government envolvement in the civil war - it was just business.
$400 sounds right in Canada, they go for $200-$300 in the US.
