Hello all, I'm a reenactor with the GWA on the central powers side. Just browsing through the board when I came across this one, figure you all might appreciate these photos I got at the range a while ago. The rifle is a 1916 Erfurt production and is matching right down to the firing pin, the M16 stahlhelm is an original shell with a repro liner, Original EK2 with its presentation box and both ribbons, and a pioneer sawback 84/98 pattern bayonet. Hope you all enjoy the eye candy, Cheers.

Very nice! I have a 1917 Erfurt Kar98az and it is one of my more interesting milsurp rifles. How do you find it shoots?

Share some pictures of the full length of the rifle!

I've been looking for a proper bayonet for a while but can't justify the 200$+ they seem to be going for.

Holy, a sawbuck 1884/98 - that's worth a few bucks all on its own. Heck, a plain 1884/98 is worth quite a bit; assuming it's unmolested.

Some awesome pieces for sure! It all looks just a bit TOO good though, especially the wood on that K98.

Unfortunatly someone sanded down this stock, I can't see any of the crest that would normally be stamped onto the stock, all the metal parts match but I cannot verify the stock is matching due to lack of serial number.

I'll get some more pictures next time I hit the range for sure. My example is pretty shot out, the muzzle just about swallows an 8mm round when doing a crown test, as for accuracy its pretty alright, seems to be high and right around 200 meters but thats to be expected when they are battle sighted to 300 meters. Honestly though mate, all equipment from the great war has gone up in price since the centenial in 2018, regardless of the price if you can find a 98/05 with a flash gaurd on the handle I'd pick it up just for having its sake you know?

Yeah, I might have overpaid a little on that one but its an uncommon manufacturer and it appears to have been made for a Bavarian based on what I can tell from the markings. a bit sad the tip of the bayonet is slightly bent but I figure its part of the history of it.

Bent tips on 1884/98s and K98 bayonets is fairly common, straight tips is less common. Seems to be a Mauser bayonet thing, although you don't see it much on the 1898/05s...
