Where would one find a kar98k from the ww2 era? I know you can buy the yugos on marstar but I was hoping for a classic German ww2 version for nostalgia ( I'm a firearms nerd). My local used gun dealer always tries to talk me out of it because he's completely sold on practical firearms for hunting and isnt for collecting ,so he won't order any in. I checked the milsurps forum but no dice.

Where would you like your local dealer to order some from? They haven't been imported for over 2 years. Keep your eyes on the ee & gun shows.

Matching, refurb, non matching, Russian capture? How authentic do you want it, and how deep are your pockets?

An original all matching German/Nazi K98 starts at ~$1000 and then goes up (and can be very hard to find). An RC mismatch goes for around $450 on the EE. There are also numerous postwar rebuilds off captured German rifles, as well as mismatched German made rifles. They will be somewhere in between.

Your best bet is to check the Milsurp section of the EE from time to time. They pop up occasionally, but will go fast if it's reasonably priced or something that is hard to come by.

Check the EE forum, they pop up from time to time. You can find a RC mauser for approx $500 and a non captured german can go for $900+ depending of condition.

He's an old war vet who used to import and buy milsurps..unfortunately he won't order or search for anything other than moose hunting rifles these days.
