Do any dealers around have any Mauser Kar98K for sale. Preferably a german or austrian one. I am looking to purchase one some time near the end of july or start of august.
Few questions about them
1. How hard are they to find
2. Whats the price range.
3. Whats the best ammo choice.
4. how do they compare to other bolt action rifles from that era.

1. You could find them at gun shows
2. Price is about 350-750.
3. Sellior & Belliot ammo
4. One of the best bolt actions of the time.

Gun shows or EE

Price depends on what you want. Anywhere fom $350 to $10K

Privi 196gr is nice ammo too.

ONE OF THE BEST BOLT ACTIONS EVER:D

so their not the type of thing that comes around in bulk loads like the sks or the mosin-nagant.

Unless Westrifle can get them in, I'd say no for now.

Your best bet, as others have suggested, is watching the EE like a hawk or finding one at a gun show. They go very quickly at the right price.

You missed the boat on the Russian Captures. I'm glad I got a good one before they dried up!

These are the ones to watch for if you want a shooter. Mine like all of them is mismatched but has all the right parts for its era and maker.

Mausers (particularly the pre-WWI rifles) are some of the highest quality rifles ever fielded in war. The fit and finish on some is staggering.

The Lee Enfield does what its designed to do very well but its inherently a weaker design and less accurate rifle, but very rugged with higher potential rate of fire and ammo capacity. The sights on the No. IV Enfield are much nicer! The Mauser 98 action is over-engineered to hell - there's a reason you see them on African Elephant hunts!

Once you buy a k98k, you will end up buying more, same thing will happen with lee enfields. Your going to like so much that you;ll end up buying as many as you can. Thats would ive been doing.

only thing i dislike like about the enfields are the safety on them, they like to move when your walking through the bush for hunting so u allwas got to be careful your safety stays on

i am not much of a hunter so the safety issue isn't that big of a deal for me but i'l keep that in mind if i decide to take out for a hunt.
Does it just wobble around or what's happening with it.
:sniper:

No the enfield safety is not wobbly, its just not as cool or conviniently located as the mausers.

I personally think the best mauser out there is the swedish mauser. M96, and 38's. Superior metal, and they have the same bolt design as a kar98, (safety, extraction, bolt release) but with #### on closing like the enfield, which I think is a plus.

Ive got a kar98, m96, lee #4, and mosin. If I had to choose 1 it would be hard to choose between the 96 or the lee. I really love the sights and mag capacity on the lee! But the 96 is so beautiful and well made.

What do the swedish mausers go for.
I am open to everyones opinion on which rifle is better, so i am not just interested in the kar98k, but all rifles from that era.
