Swedish Mausers are just as good, but i like the 98 action better and the look of the k98k. Yugo, Czech, and Belgium mausers are just as good. Most Mausers produced are high quality firearms, even during war production.
 
Is it bad when we, as collectors, can look at that movie and say something along the lines of "That must be a 1940 or earlier made Kar98k without a sight hood and milled parts" :D.

Makes me wish I had my 1940 out with me, she looks very similar to the one showcased in that scene.
 
At the end of the day, it really depends what type of Mauser 98 model you wish to hold in your hands. If you really like one or have a connection (i.e. family history), then I say pursue that as the rifle will hold more intrinsic value for you and your collection instead of simply being another shooter.
