Karl stein spotting scope any info on them?

I called steiner and they don't have archives past 11 years, so there is no references for the oldies. This happened because beretta took over. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First look carefully for the word "Japan" somewhere on the scope body. I believe this was a Japanese produced optic marketed as Karl Stein that the internet says was an earlier name for Steiner. Scope might be good or not -- if it works ok (and it looks solid from the photo) its probably a good find. Value is whatever you can get for it. Generally Kowa spotters of that era were pretty good and would command a decent resale. But less common and more obscure optics are not generally going to draw a lot of interest. I think you will find that at 50x the image is not too impressive... the high end power was often a marketing ploy -- not a setting one would use frequently and the mount would not hold the unit steady enough to make an image formed at 50x very useful.

I looked closely and Nowhere on the body does it say "Japan".
Also the glass looks very clear at 50x.
This appears to be a very nice and unique piece.
I'm hoping someone out there can give me some info on this.

Not alot on Google, some stuff on the Bird watch forums. All people selling grand dads birding stuff. I would say post war 1960s. Folks with not asking much 150 to 200 bucks. Binoculars are 40 to 80 bucks. Appears at the time they would be on the low end of the market pricing.

Further: Alot of sellers are trying to pass off Karl Stein as WW2 German military. Not so he started business in 1947.
