The Polish do not forget! Officers captured by the Rusians were killed. Non-commissioned officers (warrant, sergeant etc) were sent to Siberia. My father a corporal was in a Russian POW and then left to his win means when the germans attacked. He made his way with many others via Bagdad to Palestine (a region and not a country) and the North African campaign and then Italy.

I always stop in Katyn' when driving from Liepaja to my aunt's place in Novoslobodsk, Russia. This place has an Aura. Not many people know that besides Polish Officers there were more than 8000 Russian people executed in the area of Smolensk and most buried in Katyn' forest from 1917 to 1950.
On our stop we always buy fresh bread from the Church of the Resurrection....
