Keeping Maccabee takedown screw tight

Yes the screw is too small for the reciever...which leads me to believe the hole was drilled too large. Sloppy tolerances. So now i have a complete rifle that literally wont stay together, even tried another one of these screws still loose. So now i have to track down a screw thatll fit, lucky me, worst $1000 i ever spent.

How hard would it have been for them to drill a hole through from side to side for a regular style takedown pin.

I mean, there's enough material in the piece that protrudes down from the upper for them to drill a hole in from the bottom for a 1/4" bolt. What made them think they couldn't drill a hole through sideways and do it right? Even if they had to make the correct length of takedown pin.

As a bonus, by replacing the bolt takedown system with a cross ways push/pull pin they could have actually made a magwell that wasn't angled up towards the front so much.

That stupid little bolt is the main downfall of the whole design.

Not everyone wants pins as they take away from a very sleek and efficient design.

Just a small update, i just took the screw out completely to see why it keeps coming loose, oh wow its THE WRONG SIZE GOD DAMNED SCREW. good job maccabee, ive given you the benefit of the doubt too many times but now this is the last straw, you guys have no business operating machinery.

Probably no helicoil installed

Probably no helicoil installed

Correct as I had a few delivered with them missing. I purchased the correct size helicoils and installed them without issue.

If posters need them installed they can PM me.

Note: the grip screw is identical however the bolt is shorter then the grip bolt.

Let me know and PM me if you want to sell the stripped upper.

I seriously cannot believe people are still investing in this turd of a receiver set.

Maybe if mdi would focus on making a quality product, rather than spending their time photographing their hot sister at the cnc machine or the big ### ford truck , they could actually deliver something worth owning.

They have successfully made NEA look like a quality product, and that takes some unique skills!
Very glad I cancelled all 5 of my mdi preorders and went with a company who actually knows what they are doing.

You got a link to the hot sister pic?

;)

So glad I waited and never order one of these. To many problems for me. I would have gotten mad, smashed it and thrown it in a lake just so no one else had to deal with it. I cant get over the helicoil. They are a temporary fix to a worst case scenario type of problem.... may as well have used jb weld and mechanics wire to hold it together.

WOW!!! Now if that doesn't turn you off, what will? Yet you still just fine with paying top buck when actually purchasing sub par crap?
Are they apying you to be their warranty dept or what?

Helicoils are 1980s back yard repairs at best, they work but nothing more and are not a forever fix. 21st century inserts are far better and last I looked this is 2018 so why the maker opted for lowest possible quality solution eludes me.
Man am I ever glad I bailed when I did.
