Keeping rounds loaded in a magazine?

Restricted firearms can be in safe with trigger lock and loaded mags can be beside it ( NOT in the firearm )

And you don't have to have a trigger lock IF the firearm is stored in a safe or container that is meant for firearms....meaning if you wanted, you could store your 1911 WITHOUT A TRIGGER LOCK in a SAFE DESIGNED FOR FIREARMS beside your bed with a loaded magazine placed BESIDE it...and you're good to go

You can't have a loaded firearm in your house, whether it's stored or not.

Agreed for storage. It can be loaded however if it is in use.

keep the mags loaded, don't bother manually unloading, especially considering most mags here are pinned.

Keep them loaded, its the stress on the springs of loading and unloading that cause them to fail. Keeping them loaded will be fine for years.

Pinned mags will never see compressed springs in Canada.

I'd like to store ammunition in one pistol mag for self defense and I have a few questions....

If you are serious about the self defense thing, why keep only one loaded magazine? Since the question about storing loaded mags has been answered, why not keep three or more loaded mags, just in case?

If your still leery about storing mags fully loaded, just load one round less than maximum, for long term storage. Not that it would matter.

If you are serious about the self defense thing, do a LOT more reading, and get some training, then read some more.
If you don't know the reg's about storage, you are probably not prepared to use a handgun for self defense either.
There's a lot more to it than 'how close is your safe to your bed' or 'how many seconds it takes for you to open your safe'

Oh, and keep at least 2 mags loaded. You also need to practice tap, rack, and bang.
