Keeping screws tight in wood?

Hey all. Took the Cooey 84 out today that I recently purchased. After a few rounds I noticed the fore stock getting loose. When I took it off the wood screws were backing out.
Any way to "thread lock" these babies in place?

You can use a dab of carpenters glue to hold them in place. But usually the forearms on Cooey 84's loosen because of the forearm latch and not the screws. Good luck

I have used a dab of wood glue mixed with some saw dust before, makes a kinda paste.

A drop of wood glue and the thin end of a flat toothpick.

If the screw holes are really sloppy you can go to helicoils. Pretty extreme move. We always used model glue to seat the screws on skis. The kind that cures soft. It dampens vibration and prevents moisture from creeping in. Sometimes the best way is to use the next screw size up, depends on the condition of the wood in the screw holes.

Thanks. I'll try wood glue. When the screws are tight the fore stock is actually pretty tight to the barrel.
Shoots well for a simple old gun!

wood glue cured it for me. My spring was strong but the plate was slightly bent and coming loose causing the hand guard to droop and rattle, once addressed she was tight as nuns...Well you know.
