Kel-Tec add ons?

Have a look through the su16 threads, they all eventually turned into 'my rifle broke'

Sorry, SU-16 is one rifle I've never had any interest in. I skip all the threads on them.
Too bad more people don't research the rifle more prior to buying it, if sales dry up because of the problems people are having they will either fix the problem or stop production. Doesn't help the guys that already bought them but would address the issues and may make them more likely to honor warranty claims.

No interest in the SU-16, you skip over all the threads but you just had to stop by on this one eh? lol

Of the research I did (yes I did research), what other rifle allows a guy to use 10 round AR mags, add adjustable AR style stocks, buy AR style forends for around $700 and actually kill varmints/coyotes with? I can buy 4 of these for the cost of one XCR, Swiss Arms, Tavor ect..
Is it the "best" semi auto on the market...absolutely not but in my experience, this one has held up pretty good

I stopped on this one because the title was that you killed something with your black rifle. Had nothing to do with SU-16. Kept reading hoping for more pics :)
Yours does look pretty good though. How much did you spend on all the add-ons to get it to that point?

The pistol grip/stock it was $200 and a compact forend, not yet installed for $50.

That's a statement to be taken with a grain of salt. I have one with, at least, a couple of thousand rounds through it, reloads, steel casings, mil spec and civie ammo.

No problems and I know of others the same.

But I suppose if you use anything enough, it will eventually wear out and stop working. So perhaps, extrapolated to the extreme, you're statement may be somewhat correct.

Those of us that have had problems, as far as I understand it, may have had a run of receivers that weren't made with enough material at the back. At least the story that I was told from Sean at Kel Tec was that they corrected this issue with later runs by adding more material in the back. To me, the main spring on the piston on mine also suddenly became a lot softer at the time of the receiver breaking...I was thinking that this allowed the bolt to slam back a lot harder than usual.

My rifle didn't have a lot of rounds through it...and I have heard of others who have experienced failure with the same. If you have purchased the rifle brand new from an authorized Kel Tec dealer, then you should have no issues getting it exchanged under warranty as long as Vault can't see any signs of abuse or neglect to negate the lifetime warranty. The problem is if you buy the rifle used, then the warranty no longer applies, and you are on your own trying to get a broken firearm across the line to Florida and back. Since Kel Tec doesn't make a serial number range available for the problem receivers, there is no way of knowing if the story is true, and if so, which firearms to avoid. That's my take on it anyway...
