Kel-tec bullpup shotgun

How much extra "knock down power" does an extra 100fps give a slug? If you were arguing that the extra 1/4" gave you a few more pellets of buckshot to fill in your pattern, or more space for low density steel shot I'd agree with you.

It would be nice if they designed it to feed 3" shells but arguing that it suddenly makes it less suitable for bear defence is just silly.

If it's not what you want , then don't buy it!
They have their reason for building it the way they have.
Ask them why they did it that way.

I think it's a great shotgun, but sadly it does not have the features I would need. I understand that they can't meet everyone's needs in a single gun.

The main difference for me is I use 3" slugs that are far heavier than 2 3/4" slugs not that they are faster...

I wasn't aware that you could get slugs heavier than 1 1/4oz. Just did a little research and found the Brenneke Black Magic 1 3/8oz slug. I'm still not convinced an eigth of an ounce will make a huge difference but atleast I learned something new today.

Kel Tec fail

A broken 2$ trigger spring or transfer bar on a prototype demo gun - or a design flaw -

If a design flaw {not present on the RFB with the same trigger design} I'm sure it will be resolved prior to production -

Dont worry - be happy -

KSG production model changes from SHOT show model
Yesterday at 12:05:07 As was said before. one of the reasons that we announce and show a model many months before it will be shipped is so that we can incorporate suggestions from potential users into the production models. We had a good number of suggestions that will help make the KSG a great product.

1. Trigger reset. This will be adjusted in the production model so that you can hold the trigger down, pump back and forward, release, and then re-pull the trigger to fire the next round. No worrying about the trigger going dead, and no Pump-firing if you hold the trigger down.

2. Pump lock switch. A new latch button is in the works that will allow the trigger finger to activate the pump lock without reaching in front of the trigger guard, and potentially getting pinched by the pump. Only the KSG in the law enforcement booth had a similar latch button, made out of welded steel, but the production model will be a polymer button pinned to the steel.

3. a removable rail mounted hand-stop will be available (and probably included) to help alleviate fears of sliding your hand too far forward in front of the barrel.

4. indicator holes in the top of the magazine tubes so you can visually see when you have 0, 1, or 2 rounds left in a tube.

The following are accessories that will likely be offered after KSG production ramps up.
1. Extended butt pads. This would be similar to the SU-16 extended pad. Remove some screws and replace the existing pad with the thicker pad.

2. Choke adapter. remove the end muzzle nut, and replace with the choke adapter. this will extend a few inches in front of the existing barrel.

3. breacher attachment. Similar to the choke adapter, just designed for LE use as a door breacher.

4. Single point sling mount.

The other common suggestion was to swap the way the safety works, but this is unlikely to happen do to the nature of the bullpup style trigger mechanism in the KSG. The KSG is designed to use the thumb to push the safety from left to right in order to enable the gun to fire. Other shotguns have the safety near the trigger and use the trigger finger to push the safety from right to left to enable them to fire. perhaps a reverse

Wow, I love every single one of those changes, especially the indicator holes. If they added extra swappable barrel length options (ie field length), then price aside it would be the best and most versatile shotgun on the planet (until their competitors clone it again).

That all sounds more then perfect :)

CAN'T WAIT!!! :D

In one video the Kel Tec rep., speaking of US legalities mind you, said that it should be viewed as having 2 seperate magazines, similar to having 2 magazines clamped together - you still need to perform an action to go from one magazine to the next.

I don't know if that would fly with the hunting authorities - if not, then I guess you would either have to plug both mags to 1 round each or block one completely and leave the other plugged at two rounds. That goes for game birds, any other species (at least in Alberta), have no magazine limit with pump actions.

I don't see a problem and it should be simple to completely block one mag and plug the other limiting it to two rounds.

If I can use it for all around hunting bird/small game, I'll deep 6 my moss500. I figure with chokes I would be ok for range, even with the short barrel. Better get started on a cool plug to match the gun, I'm not going to stick dowel down the pipe..lol
