Kel-Tec disaster

In this case, I would say the ammo was the issue not the rifle. Did you fire this at the bench prior to hunting, and were the primers an issue at that time

I had a similar experience on my L1A1, "back when we could shoot it that is" used a reload, and the rifle fired out of battery, blew bottom off mag, top cover off, and bent the cocking handle. If you use reloads, use small base dies and keep the COAL short enough so the bullet ogive does not touch the rifling.

Well I pulled every bullet I loaded and the charge was the same through the lot. No loose primer pockets. I reloaded them and ran 5 shots in my mini 14 this a.m and they ran fine. No jams, no punched primers, no problems. I believe the issue is the Kel-tec rifle and really don't want run anything else in it. Like other pointed out not one of the primers were flat so a hot load wasn't the issue.

Cheers!!

Jam

I think the cause of the problems with your Keltec is the JAM in it. Your Mini 14 had no JAM, and the ammo worked just fine. Just clean out the JAM, and your Keltec should be good to go.

Remember, JAM is what you put on toast. Firearms suffer malfunctions: failure to feed, failure to fire, failure to extract, etc. Usage of the correct terms will assist people in helping you to diagnose your problem.

Regards.

exactly what I was waiting for. Ammo is not the culprit. This will prove to be related to hammer/spring/burrs/cold-thick lube. I feel the biggest safety concern wih primers blanking is that these little disks get everywhere in the action. They can prevent the gun from returning into battery, and some guns can still fire in this dangerous position.
