Kel Tec RFB

I got mine from Epps with no waiting list a couple months ago.
I love mine. It is so compact and it's accurate enough for me. I think that judging by the groups I'm getting with surplus that once I start handloading or try some decent factory ammo I should be able to drop it down to sub MOA. It isn't that important for me though, I plan to shoot deer with it and it doesn't need to do much better than the couple inches at 100 that I'm getting now with the cheap stuff.

It is the coolest non restricted semi auto rifle I've owned and I'm glad I bought it. Worth every penny.

I read somewhere that Kel-Tec is thinking of a 243 and something else based on the 308 (can't remember which one). Probably won't happen any time soon though.

If you can get your hands on one I say buy it.

Love mine!, and a surprisingly crisp trigger considering all the linkages. Keltec really figured that out. If anyone out there has shot a Tavor and rfb, you'll understand.

I have an RFB and an FS2000... the trigger difference is unreal. Not even in the same league.

The trigger is my only complaint about the FS2000.

I don't have any complaints yet about the RFB. :)

Setting the gas up properly is crucial for accuracy with the RFB. Also the 18.5" barrel poses some velocity accuracy node issues to contend with. So far the best group Ive seen was from Stormtrooper shooting 145 grain ammo. 10 shots looked sub moa to me. You can find the results on one of the RFB threads. Sorry on the iPhone so won't be linking.

Also The current RFB isn't set up to be a precision rifle. You'll want a 20" or longer SS bull barrel for that. The current one is set up more like a carbine with a chrome lined barrel.

I have yet to hear from an RFB owner reporting sub MOA groups. Even the people posting to this very thread are quoting 1.5 - 2 MOA which is really kind of crappy from a ca $2500 rifle.

So just because it cost $2500 it is supposed to be a sniper rifle?
I wanted a bullpup sniper rifle so I payed over $7000 without glass for one and it will do better than half MOA on factory ammo.
The RFB is a great price for what you are getting. It is a carbine not a precision rifle.

I am getting around 2 MOA using 147 grain Seller & Belliot surplus FMJ and I am sure that when I start trying some good factory loads or start handloading it will do much better.
You are paying for a well built 26 inch OAL rifle with an 18.5 inch barrel semi auto that meets the minimum dimensions to be non restricted and to top it off you have the knock down power of the 308 win.
I would have payed more for mine and I can't wait to take it out deer hunting next fall.

If you want one that is more accurate wait for the 24 and 32 inch barrel versions to come out.

People put too much focus on MOA IMO.

For a hunting rifle even 3" groups at 100 yards is more than good enough to kill a dear/bear!

Besides, most people only shoot sub moa groups from a bench rest, I would like to see people shooting MOA capable carbines free standing at 100 yards and compare the groups against someone shooting free standing with bullpup. Just wondering if you would see the bullpup peak here.

Yeah for $3K you expect performance, but precision and bullpup carbine don't go well together (usually the crappy bullpup triggers are the primary cause).

IMO this gun is worth the cash because it is a bullpup you can hunt almost anything with (Deer/Bear/Yote), it looks fantastic, it has an amazing OAL for hauling in the bush and it comes in one of the most readily available hunting calibres out there.

Very well saide, id like to see a dpms sass or sapr in a run and gun against a rfb!

Mine shoots consistantly just under an inch at 100m with 150 accubonds and 168 amax

I have a 200m target from saturday 4shots is 1.9"

I have not shot one but I was surprised when I fondled one at the range on the weekend. It was SOOOOOO compact. Way more so than my 10.5 ar.

how does the RFB compare to a Ar10 from DPMS? besides the registration status?

Well, both are consumer grade ie not military.

The DPMS can be made to shoot .5 moa (LR-308). Mag changes are quicker, but it is much larger. The RFB is a lot easier to carry and shoot off hand. Most 30 cal semi autos are on the large side. The RFB is the same size as a Tavor (roughly). The stock trigger on the DPMS sucks. The RFB one is decent, although there seems to be a delay (hard to explain) and follow through is very important.

The RFB has a piston system tilting block action. More like the SVT40, FNFAL, CZ858 rifles. While the DPMS is direct impingement.

There are more accessories for the the DPMS. But the RFB doesn't need much.

For accuracy the DPMS wins. For handling and shooting off hand the RFB wins. Ergonomics go to the DPMS. Quality. Well I like the RFB but I'd give the nod to the DPMS.

For the love of all that is holy, I sure hope these come out in 223 or 7.62x39.

After having my soul crushed in the T97 fiasco , I'd sell my right nut to find the funds for one of these. I just can't justify that kind of dough on a calibre I don't actively shoot.

:agree: The trigger on my Tavor is something I just can't get used to so she'll have to go now that I have an RFB. Besides, have enough 5.56 rifles anyway.
