Has anyone found a good way to mount a light to their SU-16, without going to the railed compact forend? If you have, can you share a pic? Mine has the AR stock on it, so I don't need it to collapse. Keeping the original bipod forend though.

Thanks!

Very simple. get a rail with screws and nuts (magpul moe rails come complete and are very inexpensive). put the rail where you want it on one side of the stock bipod forend, drill two small holes and mount your rail... scope ring and flashlight, and your all set. I did it exactly this way on the compact forend, but, same logic..

Upon further consideration, I decided that I didn't want to drill any holes to attach rails, or clamp anything on to my barrel. I found a single slot 45 degree offset rail on Amazon for five bucks, and had a cheapie extra high 1" scope ring lying around. Mounted my Cree 290 lumen LED light to it, and it seems to work well for me (I'm a lefty).

I can still take off the facog and use the irons without having to remove the light if I wanted to. The offset adapter is low enough not to interfere with the irons. Here are some shots...

Cheers.

You will find with that setup is your scope and rifle will block off any light on right side of the rifle thus create a blind spot.

Yeah...it does somewhat...but for my purposes (camping/bush gun), it's fine. Just tried it out...faint shadow of the rifle barrel and front sight...but the bright center circle where most of the light is thrown by the flashlight is unobscured. It'll do.
