I'm not thrilled with my 10-22 takedown. I found that Ellwood Epps has kel tec SU-22's in stock and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on them? Thanks

The plastic feels cheap on the keltec, especially the foregrip which flexes a lot. Shot very reliably with reasonable accuracy, but I didn't hit many ram silhouettes at 100 yards with it.
I used to have a 10/22. If I could only have one now, I think I'd stick with the Kel Tec, no wait....10/22, on third thought....dang. Slight edge to the Kel Tec due to 'fun factor' IMHO.

Calgary shooting centre has the su-22 and over a dozen ar pistol grips.
I put 700 rounds though mine yesterday. The only issue I had was a few fte stove pipes and one case got up behind the bolt. I had the fold up the gun to retrive the spent case. I shot about 500 before the 700 yesterday. So it needed a good cleaning, when it is clean it has no issues. If I clean it ever brick of ammo it's a pleaure to shoot.
If you were in calgary, you could try mine.

I have also had the spent casing behind the bolt issue, This is a real head scratcher! I made a pull pin with a loop, for easy foldability, so dropping the spent casing out is not really that difficult, but talk about design flaw. I personally like the plastic feel, solid, yet light. It folds easily, and fits perfectly in the shovel spot on my day pack. I know that the magazine will fit lengthwise in the stock, but it is not made to. I did have a lot of difficulty pulling it out of the stock, as it got hung up on the little "nubbs" ment to hold in the su-16 mags. I am sure this could be an easy fix. I looked at all the takedown type rifles before I purchased this one. The fact that the action, barrel, and sights all stay true to each other, while folded, was the clincher for me. It flips open rather quickly, and is solid with pin in.

I love my su aswell and went through around 700 rounds and had no malfunctions up until I cleaned the gun and made the mistake of lubing the bolt and then the weather got cold out. At around -10 I started to get failure to feeds. The action seemed to get sluggish because of the cold. I think the lube got thick and sticky which would cause the bolt to not slide as easy as it should. I will not blame the equipment for the ftf untill I get it cleaned of the lube and have another try at it. I do however think that the gun may loose reliability in the cold weather, Is this a known occurrence? Ive read about guys polishing the feed ramp so if the ftf's continue Ill probably try that too.

I've fired about 500 rounds with my SU-22 in -20C or colder with maybe 2-3 FTF. In my experience a very light coating of gun oil is best.
My biggest problem in cold weather is a failure to go into battery using standard velocity ammo. The gun has been 100% reliable in all temperatures using hyper velocity CCI stingers/remington yellow jackets.

Mine doesnt feel cheap, plasticy or flex in the handguard. Just a well made, excellent shooter that tends to misbehave if it isnt on the clean side. I love my SU22. I HAD a 10/22, 10/22 Nomad, ISSC & S&W MP 1522. Now i just have the SU22.

Just went over the 2,500 mark yesterday but then again it is quite warm here compared to the rest of the country so I can see it take a little less time between cleaning for you guys cause the cold makes everything tighter. But out of all the semi-auto 22lr's I have owned or shot it's the best so far for reliablity. And I have shot some high end plinkers. Now for accuracy I have no idea cause this is a pinker and as long as my red dot can hit what it's aiming at 25 meters away I am happy. For more accuracy than that I will brake out my tricked out semi-auto 22lr called the 597 and brake clays @ 200 meters. But for something I can fold up and slip into my backpack while hunting big game and spot a few snacks "i.e. grouse" a long the way well this is the ticket. Oh ya Dave (Gothmog) 22lr 3 gun this rig is getting the nod with it's 50 round drummer :p

I cleaned all the lube out of the gun and went to the range today. I fired off probably 450-500 rounds and only had 1 FTF it wasn't overly cold either (-5). Im quite happy with that.
