I'm looking to get a more black type of rifle. Most seem to be a little expensive for me at the moment, but the sub 2000 is within my price range, the gen 2 is affordable with some saving over time, but I think a used gen 1 should be extremely affordable. Not to mention 9mm is still pretty affordable.

What's the ball-park prices for used gen 1's? Does anyone have one? how good/bad are they? etc, etc? Anyone possibly willing to sell?

They are ok, if you need a compact little gun to carry with you camping, travelling, etc they are great. If you are planning on shooting it a lot, I don't think it's the best carbine for that. Mine is ammo sensitive and does not like JHP. The front sight is poorly designed, the grips needs a hogue sleeve over it and I wrapped insulation tube with tape over the stock so my face has a nicer rest. Lot's of the plastic needs sanding on the corners.

Id get a Gen 2. people seem to still want a pretty penny for the gen 1's.. for the MAYBE $100 you would save id just get the updated one.

I had a gen 1 and it never let me down, must of had about 5-6000 rounds through it, they seem to be selling for around $450-$500 used. I might buy another one again as I miss it.

I never handled a Gen I, but I really like my Gen II.

I have no reason to sell my gen 1 (which has been exceptionally reliable) just to get the gen 2, yet. When the gen 2 is available in FDE, the scales will probably shift. My g1 uses the less common S&W 59 mags, so it will get sold at a bit of a discount.
