If he has the box and certificate of ownership ask him what the date is on the certificate that came with it and let us know. I have an unfired 9mm Gen2 with a certificate dated August 12 2019 and it looks nothing like that. Mine was also bought around September 2020.

That is called "chattering". Not a good thing at all. My Gen 2 blew up after four rounds, your friend is doing better than me at least!

Hi,

correction: It was bought new June 2020 not September. There is box and certificate of ownership from Vault dated Aug-1x-2019. Not sure if he can dig out the receipt, if that matters?

August 1x 2019? I'm going to have to dig mine out and have another look at it now because that is to close. What is the actual date? August what because their is a chance that there are more out there like this.

Just looking and mine was bought from Bullseye in the middle of July 2020. It does have a very faint "Chattering" I guess as B. mentioned but nothing like that. Is it a 9mm as well?

Yes it is a 9mm version. Thank you B to give the correct name of the problem and I found some articles and videos about this. Eye opening!

The chattering on this specific S2K is far from "faint" or "very faint" I am afraid!

Not typical, your buddy should get in touch with Vault if he's the original owner.

Vault said it is normal, does not affect anything. Quoted:

"is leftover from the barrel reaming process, which takes place just after the bore is drilled out. Although not pretty to look at, I have confirmed with KelTec engineers that this is normal, largely cosmetic, and shouldn’t affect performance in any way."

It seems that is it. Interesting the accuracy was actually not very bad, about 1.5" at 20 yard iron sight using CCI Blazer Brass 124gr. But I had never seen such marking in any firearm.

Interesting....mine is like that too. This is the problem when I bought it more as a novelty due to the folding nature of the gun and the fact that it is a smaller rifle for a smaller statured person like myself. Mine is the 9mm and there are some jamming issues too. I wasn't aware that Keltech had some historic quality issues with their guns.

Thanks for the update.
Reminds me I need to try and get in touch with Vault again....
