Kel Tec sub 2000 Hammer Axis breakage

Recently I purchased a new Kel Tec Sub (9mm glock mag version) from Frontier firearms. It did sit in my vault for a couple of months before I had a chance to take it to the range where I put through 200+ rounds through it (no issues whatsoever). When I was back home I stripped it for cleaning and then could not re-assemble the gun because the bolt could not be inserted properly (it would be pushing against the hammer which was stuck in the up position).
I proceeded to unscrew the receiver and discovered that the hammer axis (part #276) was broken causing the hammer to be stuck in the up position which in turn did obstruct the bolt.

I did send an email to frontier but have received no response (disappointed). I then contacted Kel Tec directly and they promised to send me the new part. I wonder if anyone has seen this before and if the lack of response from frontier is a typical thing. (they also shipped me the unit with a korean mag instead of the factory glock that this kel tec models supposed to ship with?)

I have the same issue with my sub2k. I just out a long handed screwdriver from the receiver end and press the hammer down until the bolt clears. It's been like that since I got it.

In mine the hammer raises slightly, but with a little bump the bolt rides over. Mine had been sent back to Kel Tec for another issue, but problem existed before and after service on the bolt / trigger. Sometimes my trigger wouldn't reset.

You must be very careful not to pull the trigger when the bolt is removed otherwise it blocks the bolt from being reinserted. It's recommend that you put on the safety before disassembly. You should be able to reach in with a long screwdriver and reset the hammer but if your's is already broken you need to contact Vault distributing who is the Canadian importer for KelTec and handles warranty issues.
If you split the receiver already you've pretty much voided your warranty and will probably be billed for any repairs required.

Good luck

cr5, if I understand you correctly for all warranty repairs the gun must be shipped to Vault distribution irrespective of which retailer it was purchased from (in my case Frontier)?

I searched the net to see if mere opening of the receiver would result in nullification of the warranty. Someone asked Kel Tec a similar question. Here is what they responded (posted at http://www.thektog.org/forum/f92/stock-mods-kel-tec-warranty-256127/):
Kel Tec did respond to me 3 hours ago. It was just sitting in my SPAM folder. Here is what they said with regards to my warranty question:

"If you damage anything while it’s open, it won’t be covered under warranty, but if you know what to look for and how to fix it, that’s fine."

"7th. Repairs will take about 8 weeks after we're back. I apologize for the inconvenience.**"
