Hi all, just a cautionary note about the Kal-Tec sub2000. I purchased one back in late August and ran about 200 rounds through it before it exploded. I sent it back to the distributor and they said it appears it wasn't a mechanical malfunction. I used only factory ammo (American Eagle 147gr. 9mm). The distributor said that it is a bullet issue as the casing is still in the chamber. I have used this ammo for years with no issues and I can't believe you could over-charge a factory bullet enough to blow the whole receiver side of a a rifle apart. I sent a message to Federal describing the problem, no answer yet. Anyways, just wondering if you all have heard of anything like this. So far it looks like I'm screwed.,

Sad. And no, there's no chance it's "the bullet's fault". Sorry to hear about your luck. My Sub2K also has QC issues, and it's been sitting with Vault for the past 3 months. Will it get fixed? Probably not. I've already forgotten about mine.

Vault has the worst customer care ever, they can't be bothered to help out, even when you are willing to pay for parts

I've put a few hundred rounds down range with seemingly no problems from my August 2013 purchased sub2k

What exactly should I be looking out for..

I was hot to trot to get one of these, non restricted, compact, I have lots of Glocks mags. Then when I looked at one in the gun shop, I thought Meh, underwhelmed.

I also think they are a little overpriced for what you get IMHO.

Now I am getting worried .
I bought one way back in 2010 , but I never have time to shoot it.
I only have about 50 or 60 rounds through it.
I hope I do not have any of the problems that I am hearing about , as my warranty is long gone.
" note to self No more Kel Tec"
