I've read your posts on the R.F.B. forum regarding ammo, some good info there -

It would be interesting if you tested with my axis lengthening system.

I have a few other things to try out first. The Axis system makes sense but defeats the reason I bought the RFB.

Also note the different barrel length of the RFB-C vs the USA ones. There is also some question regarding the C models chambering. Add in that many of the best accuracy results have been while supressed. There are a few variables Im still checking out.

Strangley enough the cheap MFS ammo seems to shoot the best. The US guys have had these results as well. Wondering if it's the added support from the non brass cartridge. Another on this site has sworn that loading to 2.76 has helped significantly. A bullet seated further back could possibly have the same result as the MFS cartridge.

I have some 168 ammo loaded to 2.76 OAL, and some 145 MFS to try out. Hopefully this spring. Last year I didn't get much time on the range.

It was my rifle that the 2.76 OAL worked for. I was having a lot of trouble with vertical stringing (like 6 inches). I could get 3 into an inch sometimes but the 4th of 5th was vertical by about 3, 4 or 6 inches and usually the first one was the problem. I shortened to 2.76 and it was magic for me. Normally I do not shoot more than 3 shot groups on one target (its a mental thing for me) after 3 I shoot at different target.

With my load in my rifle I was able to put 6 shots (3 per target but in a row) into under an inch. Luckily it was witnessed by a fellow CGNer at the range in Regina (don't remember his name). It took about 3 months of constant testing to find the load but I did and it works for me.

I am now very happy with it and it is a great gun for hunting - compact, quick on target, balances well for off-hand shooting and accurate enough for my use.

The XCR-M wasn't available when I made my choice. That being said while I would like to try the M some day I would choose the RFB if it's a one or the other comparison. Neither are going to be tack drivers. Chrome barrels, piston actions, etc. Their very designs fly in the face of what is tried and true for accurate rifles.

So do I want a rifle that looks to be imitating my AR10 but won't shoot anywhere near in the same league or do I want a semi 308 that is the same length as a Tavor? Ergos on M are better. But the compactness of the RFB is something you have to see to believe. It's much easier to shoot a 18.5" RFB off hand than a 18.5" XCR-M.

If you want accuracy get an AR10. If you want a compact easy to haul around modern semi 308 get the RFB. If you want a rifle that excells at nothing but is good all around with decent features then get the XCR-M. The XCR-M only has a niche here due to it's non restricted status. If the 308AR rifles were non restricted the XCR-M would be more of a novelty item.

All very true - the axis extension was only for bench testing, the real benefit of the RFB is for HUNTING !

Fighting dense bush with a .308 handgun instead of a 4 foot long rifle is a breeze !

It would be good for combat if it didnt have so many intricate parts, but even so - the Israeli army has made overtures to Keltec - seems they like 30 cal. just like the yanks in the sand box do.
