Kelowna Military Museum

There are other things to do in Kelowna than just: wine tour, beach with 24 C lake water, hike, drink cool tasty beverages, etc etc

There is the Military Museum. Not super huge, but it is close to the beach and lake walking path, so it's easy to find, and any museum is worth our support and worth the trip.

This is one of, if not the, finest LE No1Mk3 I have ever seen. I couldn't determine if it has any Canadian affiliation, but it was in outstanding shape.
Sorry, all I had was my cel phone for photos, and all gun stuff is behind the plexi glass.

Here is an overall shot. It is basically one large room with displays.

And here is the 8 year old heir to the koldt 12.7 collection. Some day. He liked the visit as well, and his Mom appreciated some time for herself.

If you ever go to the Okanagan and tired of watching bikinis, your visit to the museum is by donation so it wont break the bank.

It's well worth a visit. One interesting piece is a genuine Boer War vet's bringback Lee-Enfield. It is heavily engraved with carvings that he did in S. Africa. They have a RAF documentary film on the planning and execution of a typical night bombing raid over Germany. I've watched it a couple of times and found it very useful for context when I did the story of a rear gunner who flew 33 missions in a Halifax bomber.

Yes, unfortunately it appeared all of the guns showed signs of welding.

And yes, the fellow in the wheel chair working, was good with koldt Jr asking his multitude of 8 year old's questions. They also had some webbing/kit for the kids to wear for photos, which was appreciated.

All in all, a good visit. It would have been nice to see more exhibits/stuff from the BC Dragoon unit in town. I still feel the CF could always promote itself more.

I was actually saying it, with my outside voice. My partner kept asking, "Don't you have one of those?"

I really wanted to have a close up look at the Savage manufactured 1928 Thompson. It had the flat ejector and a few other finer parts normally found on the Colt 21s.
