Keltec CMR 30 and PMR 30 i stock in colors

maybe I missed the news, but does this mean that everybody who bought one of these previously are all restricted? I thought these were non restricted all along?

The thing i know, from a really qualify shop, because i ask them to convert one for me,long answer short he couldnt do it,simply because their is only a restricted FRT,no non restricted frt have been issued.

That makes no sense, I have converted several restricted firearms to NON RESTRICTED without there being any NR frt. Infact I created some of the first NR frt for several firearms

IRG pinned the stock on theirs and "are within the law" for NR status. That being said I dont know if they have actually got a confirmation in the NR status yet, all other versions being sold in canada have the collapsible stock making the under the overall length for NR in canada

The non restricted ones were brought in by another dealer. They had to have the collapsible stock pinned so it didn’t collapse all the way to keep it the overall length

Well tell this to Herron arms,i think they know how to un-rectricted a firearms and that what was their answer, non restricted FRT for the CMR-30 so they dont do it converting them to non restricted.

The gunsmith (who is also a verifier) at my local gun shop wouldn't believe me when I told him it could be converted to non-restricted. He said it's impossible to make a restricted a non-restricted (another fine example of his complete ineptitude). Told him and the owners multiple times I would buy it on the spot if they did the conversion and verification. Seems they aren't interested in my money. Still hanging on their wall well over a year after the initial inquiry. I really don't like that place.

BHAHAHAHHAHAHA yeah ok cuz Ian is the one who has done ALL of my conversions

I am considering a possible package deal including one of each, since they use the same mag, it is a no brainer.

Im just pointing the fact Who told me this. And if you look around you Will see that not one single Canadian dealer have any nr, so the question is why no Canadian retailer have just restricted, knowing that the cmr would sell like hotcake on nr.

i have one,non restricted, the stock is modified so it does not slide in all the way, so it stays over 26 inches. length is the reason they are restricted. because the pmr pistol takes the same mag it is pinned from 30 to 10. maybe a good thing being the price of 22 mag. lol its very well made, works great, light and compact.

You named the exact reason i want it so bad,22 mags, light, compact, really a nice rifle to take with you in the wood in a back pack, the 10 limit mags i dont mind it,the gun look and like to feel great, saw many video on youtube.

But, I fit's just "pinned" to be "within the law" …..and with no non-restricted FRT attached to it per say......a guy might be askin for a whole world of hassle getting stopped in the bush with one of these, If they can type or call it in and get back a frt# and paperwork...it would be a quickly resolved issue.

But if they call/type in into the system...and nothing comes back...you know bureaucrats work...they will just take it, saying it has to be inspected....and good luck seeing it again for a few months..to maybe a few years...tied up in bureaucratic "red tape"

Having said that, I really wish they would come fully NR, the 22mag is an awesome round...would make for a great pack/survival rifle....because you could carry a ton of ammo ...with hardly any weight or taking up too much space

If they can get it cleared up...I'll definitely get a CMR and a PMR....really cool little guns :)

LOVE the 22WMR

If they were imported NR then they are fine, otherwise they would be restricted at entry and require registration, in non "Canadian edition" unmodified direct from kel tec its restricted due to OAL . It no different then having a short barrel and Long barrel version of the same rifle since the OAL or in centerfires case barrel length is the defined reason for classification. Unlike the AR platform being restricted by name and i think this is what is confusing people. Look at Springfield's M1As the socom 18" is restricted and the 20" is not due to barrel length. The ACR conversions, Ps90 conversions to NR etc etc.
