I did a search and found some older threads which indicate the PMR 30 had not been approved for import into Canada yet. Has this changed?

If it has been, is the 30 round mag available for it yet or does it need to be pinned? I am assuming so... which blows but is not surprising.

Unfortunately, the magazine would have to be pinned because it's for a pistol.
Ruins the gun a bit, but it's still a semi-auto .22wmr handgun, so IMO it'll sell if it ever gets the green light.

So far :yingyang: , the .22 PLR is the sole Kel-Tec product available in Canada....:(...which is a shame, b/c I've long salivated over the SU-16 series!..........

Kel-tec

Not true, I've seen Kel-Tec Sub 2000's in the EE, and according to Vaults website, it looks like more may be coming. As well they are the Canadian distributor for Kel-Tec and RFB's are coming according to a post I saw by Vault. They also list both the PMR-30 and the SU-16 on their site so they may be trying to bring these in too. I think the RFB with the 18.6" barrel made for Canada will be the only non-res one though.

If they create a rifle that uses the PMR rimfire mags, would those have to be pinned?

They would need to create a rifle and have magazines designed and intended for the rifle. If the magazines happened to fit a handgun, then so be it.

Best I can describe it.

And they would have to market the mags as being made for a rifle. If they go bragging that they are designed for use in both a rifle and the PMR-30, we'll have the same BS happen that is happening to S&W's M&P 15-22 mags.

The PMR 30's were pinned to ten last week for us and ready to ship. Originally we were going to pin them here in Canada, but Kel-Tec decided to do them for us.

Vault, get on them and make sure they know our magazine limit fiasco and how careful wording now can equal proper magazines for Canadians in the future.

That carbine version looks AWESOME!!! That would for sure be something I'd buy!!!

Vault, what's the word on these? Thanks

Eric

+1. Excellent point and forethought.

A PMR-30 is an OK pistol with a 10 round mag, but it jumps a lot of spots on my list if I can use the full capacity mags instead.:D

If you click on fnrob's link what is that gun that the fellow on there says it looks like? That a sweet little rifle. Can we get those in Canada? Still would like of those Kel-Tec carbine's based on the PMR-30. Need answers from Vault though.

That similar looking gun mentioned in the thread is the Grendel R-31, which unfortunately, is on the prohibited list under "Former Prohibited Weapons Order No.11". Which means that particular model was not grandfathered, and anyone who owned one in Canada had to hand it in for destruction with no compensation. :(
