Keltec RDB sight

Alrighty then! I’m picking up my first 5.56 black rifle, very cool, I’ve mostly plinked .22, hunted with my 30-30 iron sights, and shot pistol also iron sights. This thing has just a rail to start, no sights. I’m pretty new to the black rifle realm and I Understand this is basically asking Which pickup is best but; what do folks use for sights on their rifles? Fixed and variable scopes, Acogs, reflex, red dot, magnifiers.. I’m sure there’s tons of things and combos I’ve no idea about. SO what do you use? What do you hate? I likely won’t be throwing 1000 bucks at a sight but hopefully around the 500$ mark. No bad ideas! I’ll check back as soon as I can. And thanks in advance.

I ran a vortex Reddot on my RDB. No complaints. Kept it light and easy to acquire targets. I ran a fixed 10x on it in a cantilever mount for load development as well. Reddot felt more at home for my use

Get a low power variable.

IMO a red dot is not the best option for a rifle with a 19”+ barrel.

Primary arms makes some decent-quality fixed power scopes for not too much coin. 2.5x, 3x and 5x are the more common ones and would be a good choice for an RDB in my opinion. They'd also weigh less than a 1-4 or 1-6.

Hey all thanks so far for the replies. I’m leaning towards a Vortex Eagle Strike 1-6. The BDC recital is pretty neat. Now comes the question of mounts. What’s the purpose or benefit of a cantilever mount vs something like the Vortex tactical mounts? Or Vortex Pro

Mounts aren’t much of a question. You need AR height to get the scope where it should be. Any cantilever or extra high rings (about 1.5” from rail to center of scope) should be fine.
