I love this little rifle, I own two of the gen1's and one of the gen2's..
awesome for plinking and hunting but if someone out there is considering it for a SHTF rifle, I would advise against it.
The biggest issue I have with this rifle is that it is a PITA to clear a FTF/FTE, as you have to remove the magazine and flip the rifle upside down (not to mention it is not easy to see into the magwell unless you are in optimal conditions).
It has only happened a few times but if it were to happen at a critical time, you would pretty much be sunk. I only say this because I know the OP loves his milspec/tactical gear more than most.

Its actually you DS RFB that got me so stoke about having a rfb that wen I did get the chance I jump on the ds.

What kind of failure did you encounter? The designe of this gun don't lend itself to a lot of possible jams. Most of them are due to bad mags or over gassing, due to the design of the extractor (double) I don't really see it failing to extract. Plus most jam can be clear by removi g the mag and cycling the action.

Alright might as well post a pic

I 'v seen on ktog they found a compagny in Germany that manufacture rfb barrels and also 358 win rfb barrels

So in the AR world thermold are nicknamed thermelt. Is there a quality difference in their FAL mags that make them more reliable?

Idk, its hard to make anything melt with 5 rounds... I got 2 thermold 5/20 ar mag and they are sh!/# can't feed 3 rounds with out a jam. But my thermold fal mag I never had a failure, and all I heard on ktog and nutnfancy is positif.
