Keltec RFB True Canadian Retail Price?

I eventually bit the bullet and bought one at the inflated Canadian price. I wanted it bad enough, but Iwill be the first to admit - this rifle should not cost a penny over $1500. It's nice, but not $2400 nice. I own one and still think so! I do really like the rifle, though I find the gas system is too sensitive and needs to be tuned to the actual load you intend to use.

I would prefer a more coarse gas system like on a FAL.

I did the rough setting and so far it's fired 5 types of surplus, two types of factory and a bunch of handloads. No FTF or FTE and haven't had to change the setting at all.

I run my surplus at +3 and my hunting bullet at +7. if I set my gas sitting at +3 it will run the two ammo perfectly, but the heavyer 168 gr. Hunting ammo run smouther a +7.

Yea i bought a Sub2000 after never seeing one in person , they are nowhere near worth $650 ! Down south they sell for $300 , thats a fair sounding price for the quality of that carbine .. And then trying to zero the rifle i ran out of windage adjustment on the front sight ! The windage can not be zeroed its still 5 inches off at 25m and no room to adjust, it was over a foot and a half off out of the box! As far as i can tell there is a barrel alignment problem cause the sights dont seem to be canted . So i called Vault and the jerk said that im a poor shot and they dont warranty for bad shooters then hung up on me. I have never dealt with such a ####ty company ..

My next step is to call KelTec and see what they can do from their end, I hate gun makers that dont zero their iron sights from the factory if KelTec did this the problem would have been caught before it went out the doors. Thats why i love company's like CZ , every single gun i ever bought from them the iron sights were zeroed perfectly with a test target in box.

I don't have a problem with importers charging what they can but insulting customers and no support is a huge disappointment! I'd love to hear Vault's version of your call!

I find that anything below +8, on my rifle, will cycle most factory ammo but if I get below +6, it sometimes double-feeds, presumably the bolt is rebounding too quickly. Higher than +8 and the hold open ceased to work and it sometimes mis-feeds.

It could be worse - I have a GEN1, the GEN2 guns have even finer gas adjustment, something like 50 clicks as I understand things!

Vault is the only importer and distributor for Kel Tec in Canada right now, and YES, the pricing is high for the RFB-C. A buddy of mine in US told me that he bought one for $1500 and even at that price, he is bitc*ing it was over priced, but it seems that KEL TEC RFB is short supplied in US (some states) as well?

I too bought a RFB recently, and the questions "Claven2" had on the earlier post were also on my mind. Does RFB worth the $2400+tax? Well my answer is "NO", IMO it is reasonable at $1600-$1800, but few things we need to take into consideration are: RFB-C is custom made for the Canadian market, 1) 18.5 inch barrel (US version has the 18") No flash Hider (otherwise NO export) 3) 308win instead of 7.62x51(Not able to export 7.62 version from US) 4) Extra work to pin the Mag for Canadian market 5) Export and Import licensing cost. With all these 5 points considered, I would say the reasonable price is around $2000, but with the dealer mark up, + supply and demand + people like myself who can't resist the temptation of buy one at $2400+tax, the price is not going to come down anytime soon. LOL.

If you want to be lazy you can overgas the rifle and it will fire all ammo you feed it but don't start #####ing on here when your rifle beats itself to death.
I agree that it would have been nice to have a self regulating system or something that has 4 positions but it is what it is and it works very well if you take the time to set it up.
Once it's broken in you should be able to record your gas setting for each type of ammo you plan to use and then just reset it each time you switch.
I don't really understand the problem though, How often do you switch ammo types in an afternoon of shooting? Once you are used to it you can set it up in a few shots. The benefit to the system is that you can tune the rifle precisely to each ammo type and it is a very soft shooting 308 that won't beat your shoulder to death.

If it's that big of an issue sell it for what you payed for it on the EE and buy an XCR-M.

Why the 18.5" barrel? As long as the total length is 26" (which it is with the 18" barrel) it doesn't need to be 18.5"...

The idea is you want the RFB to be Non Restricted, hence the 18.5" barrel

They won;t import a short barrel....becuase they can't justify $2400 for a $1500 Rifle.

They use the Custom 18.5" barrel made exclusively for us as a B.S reason to Jack up the price
