Keltec sub2000 -

Hey there, been doing some research, thinking about buying one of these and was looking for some opinions on them, as well as some questions answered.
First of all if you have/had one, how do you like it?
Where can you buy accessories like rails or better sights for it? Does the rail prevent folding in any way?
Who actually has them in stock right now? I couldn't find any on any of the major store's websites I know of. (9mm glock mag version)

I've spent some time with a 9mm Beretta version. I personally had a lot of fun with it. When compared to my CZ 858 or 870 Wingmaster, it definitely feels like a lighter duty piece. Things like the grip that expands ever so slightly when a magazine is inserted, the delicate front sight and rear flip up aperture seem questionable at first, but are quickly forgotten once you start shooting.

The gun is easy to shoot (as indicated by novice gunners with no long gun experience) once you learn how to efficiently pull the charging handle back. As far as accessories, there's Red Lion Precision for forends and front sights, Tacticool products for a cheek pad and charging handle grip, or Kel-Tec for their own forend and some other bits and pieces. The Kel Tec forend will allow proper folding unless an optic is attached, whereas the Red Lion indexes at 90 degrees so you can turn it before folding. Good luck with your search.

I plan on getting mine through irunguns.ca because they're like 200-300 more in Canada than the USA due to import costs

Guess that was a bold faced lie lol

I have one of the Glock mag models and the only real complaints I have are that the stock sights suck, and that it isn't as friendly to us left handed shooters (it tends to eject into my right cheek). Other than those issues, it has run flawlessly for me.

As far as accessories, any of the official stocking dealers (Wolverine, Epps, Reliable, Lanz, Dante, P&D, Wanstalls, Frontier, and Calgary Shooting Centre) usually carry the Kel-Tec branded accessories or are able to order them from the Canadian distributor, Vault Distribution. As for Red Lion parts, last I'd heard, they were looking for a Canadian distributor, but I haven't heard anything since. And regarding availability at the moment, they sell out pretty fast, so you may wish to get on one of the stocking dealer's wait lists for one, or you may be able to find one on the secondhand market.

got one at reliable gun back in april. love it. they had the rail for it at the time but I didnt like it. Got the stock extension at wantsalls. great fun, everyone who has tried mine loves it too

Good luck with that.
Let us know how that works out for you.

Since you obviously haven't done any research on this I'll fill you in on a couple specifics.
Firstly even if you could get the US version across the border it would be restricted here because they have a 16" barrel down south.
Second thing is that the price here is more for a reason, Keltec has to make a special version for us so we can have the Canadian non restricted version which they obviously charge a little extra for and then Vault imports them and they need to make a couple bucks and then the local retailer needs to make a couple bucks. That's how business works, if they don't make money they go out of business so there is your $200-$300.
If you want one just buy it locally and support the Canadian firearms retailers. By the time Irunguns gets you one it will be $50 cheaper and you will have a restricted firearm.

The sub 2000 is a lot of fun.
I drilled and mounted a lower rail on mine for an AFG and really like the feeling of it now. The sights aren't the best but they are adequate. Look for tacticool products website for the rubber tube for a cheek rest. The recoil buffer is a waste of time and prevents the bolt from being able to be locked back.
My favorite thing about it is that I can fold it up and put it in a backpack with a couple hundred rounds of ammo and throw it in the back seat of the truck and no one knows it's there until I take it out.
No one has them in stock but the wait for them is usually not too long. Get in on one of the waiting lists and start stocking up on ammo and mags while you wait. I ordered mine through P&D in Edmonton and had it within 2 months. Buying them on the EE seems to be silly to me since most people want the same price for a used one as new.

And how many dummies on the forum sided with the importers and called us kooks for saying it was gouging BS. I love being right in the end. I'll be spending my money with IRUN as well

Go ahead and have fun being stuck at the range with your RESTRICTED sub-2000.

You do also realise that there's a $100 brokerage fee with irunguns, and once you import it, the cost to do a re-barrelling job to make it NON-RESTRICTED would in the end be more than you'd pay to buy a non-restricted one already brought in by Vault. But at least you can claim Vault didn't gouge you on the price.

Guess I was on the ball when I got mine. Was at a small local show 20 min after opening, vendor had it on the table, saw some guys looking and passing. Handled it, pinched myself and took it home. Lotsa fun gun. Price was no more than most rimfire rifles I have.

Sight sucks, service support is excellent, comes to the shoulder easily and can be accurate. If the folding option is not important consider the JR carbine instead. the main selling point of this gun is the folding option which makes it quite compact.

Have fun with your Restricted Sub 2k's, lol.

Here we go again. You dont think IRUN cant get ones with 18.5??????? LOL You think Vault has a lock down on them. maybe only canadian importers can get the Canadian versions of all the firearms made for our market too LOL. Come on guys use your brains, you're the guys who make it easy for the firearms importers to gouge us because you let them.

And how many dummies think they are going to import a US version and save themselves a pile of money?
You are a kook if you think you will be getting a US version here through IRun at less than what it would cost to just buy one locally. You should try doing a little research before you spout off about getting gouged. The US version will be restricted here and you will still have to pay them to import it. Then swap the barrel to make it non restricted (good luck with that one) and then send it in to be reclassified and wow your really winning this one.
Oh ya, then there will be no warranty on it once you swap the barrel.

You must still be waiting for that day you are right in the end.

From what I have read Vault has made a special deal with Keltec to have them build runs of Sub2000's and RFB's specifically for the Canadian market, providing them with specs that the rifle must meet to be Canadian non restricted. That is why they are the exclusive importers of Keltec products.
You go ahead and prove us all wrong and report back with how much money you saved doing it your way.

And no I don't think they can get an 18.5 inch barrel one from the US. They were never offered to the US people with an 18.5" barrel.

Good luck.
