Kevin, look what happened to your M14

OK,
enquiring minds need to know ....
how did you port the barrel without getting chrome flaking off from the bore lining??

Dlask does a very inexpensive 14 barrel chop and thread the muzzle to AR 15 specs, which allows for interchanging "MUZZLE BLING" at whim, but a permanent port on the original barrel is another neat way to go ... provided the chrome bore doesn't flake at the port holes,
OR,
provided you use a NON-chromed barrel, Like Thomas' Kreiger.

If you can do a port on the chromelined barrels without losing accuracy from flaky bore chrome, we would be mightily impressed.

LAZ 1

Laz, ported portion is not rifled, it is drilled out to about 9mm diameter and than ported. I followed an advice that has been vocalised here on these boards. I plugged bore with 308 bullet, drove it to where crown will be. Used sharp drill bit - I sharpened myself. The rest is just as easy as choping the barrel or doing any other manipulation with chromed barrel. I am not sure if it will hold but so far bore looks as shine as if there is no flaking. I do not have bore scope and cannot tell if there is any evidence of flaking around new "crown" that is recessed about 3" down the barrel just past ports.

while it does make the rifle a bit heavy..... it sure does change the the way the m14 comes to hand. The troy is an excellent product, well thought out and attention was paid to detail big time.
If you are looking for a "tactical" rigged M14 , The troy gets my recommendation big time. I have found one in Tan and a friend has a tan Magpul PRS he'll sell me , the colour i originally wanted.... so it's lookin like my black one will go on the EE block (maybe :D) as painting it would just devalue it........

Great looking M14s!
Is the TROY stock readily available in Canada now?

I no longer have any TROY stocks for my M14s.
Nothing wrong with the MCS, I just prefer the EBR.
Here is a recent group shot of what I have.

Yah lucky bastard, thats the colour I wanted to but I haven't tracked one down yet. I had to settle for dressing mine in Tan acessories but it's just not the same. :D

some guys have been getting them through Questar import services.... and the company here on cgn, CQB services gets them in occasionally but seems to only be in small numbers.

was testing different loads lately. 150grainer boat-tailed hornady bullets over WIN748 and CCI primers. 46.2grains of charge seem the only one accurate and reliable in my M14. I tried 45.7, 46.2, 46.7, 47.3, 48.5 grains of charge so far with spotty results for all except 46.2. Overall I am happy with rifle, set up and ammunition, ready for spring blackies season. Below is 8-hole target shot at 100 yards. I know it doesn't look like much but keep in mind this is red dot optics which are generally not a very accurate aiming device.
