Hi guys,
About 3 years ago I bought Norinco M305 from a fellow gunnutter on here.
The only question I asked was "is it accurate?",and his answer was "it shot good for me".
Well I put it in the vault and thats where it sat untill yesterday, when I thought it was time to sell it.
You can't sell something without checking it out.
At 100 yards it was not on the paper, but the board had an enlongated hole.
The next 4 rounds were all over the place the,key holed. As far as I know the two main reasons are
wornout barrel or a damaged crown. The flash hider has been put on with lock tite so checking the muzzle is out.
Can someone tell me the app cost of rebarreling?Or maybe I can sell it fore parts,

This post is a combination of asking for help and a mild rant about the SOB that screwed me.

Thanks
Mel

Doesn't sound good....if you get another barrel for it I can rebarrel it for you for free. Just pay for the shipping to me in Chalk River (near Petawawa) .

Hi, is the muzzle break original, or an after market? Personally I would heat it up to melt the locktite and remove it. And shoot it without the break. Nothing makes bullets fly more erratically than a poor muzzle break.

I doubt the crown is bad if the flash hider has been firmly on. Have you tried a different type of round? What ones did you shoot?

Heres a silly question.....

Are you SURE it was 308? Not 7-08 or something (I'm not trying to be dis-ingenuous)?

Re-barreling is going to be pretty inexpensive if ya send it to chalkriver (a very generous offer IMHO) a used Chinese barrel could run $100 or so in the EE. A Kriger or Criterion is going to run $500 minimum and you'll need a new castle nut and gas lock. There was a fella selling "citadel" (sp?) barrels in the EE for a bit less, but I have no experience with them.

But I would start someplace else..... As previous posters have stated, check the FH for copper, take the FH off and shoot again. If it's still doing it, you could try re-crowning.

Cheers!

I doubt there is anything seriously wrong with it, a misaligned flash hider is most likely, that's an easy fix.

Why do you think the flash hider has been loctited? Did you know they are all welded on at the factory?

so its an aftermarket brake, vs the original flash suppressor?
as someone mentioned, check for strikes on the end of the brake, shouldn't be that hard to see if it happened.

X2 keyholing at close range is either ground strikes bouncing though the target... or the rounds striking the break/flash supressor

If your not kicking up divots its the gun

I have'nt had a chance to do anything to it.Wed. is closeing date on my house and moveing into the new place is keeping me busy.
Thanks to every one for the help and advice, when I get back to I'll let you know.

Many Thanks
Mel

Getting for you Amerikanski flame hidener. No good flame hidener of Chinese slave factory.

Lol. Every time I read your posts I laugh.

My also leaning towards the bullet contacting your brake/flame hidener. My nork flash hider was off enough to just lightly contact the bullet. Made the rifle pattern like a shotgun as well as keyholing

Oh and also, if your barrel is dinked then take of chalk rivers offer. Met him at a clinic and he's a super nice guy.
You should also try and make it to a clinic, tons of great info and it's a good way to get to know some members
